When wanting 2 sand down a project car, especially down to metal,i recomend using the SA manufactured SANDFLEX Flapdisk made by a company called Grinding Technologies, its was recomended to me by a friend,he used it on his cars, and we both had great results from using them,it chews through paint, putty and rust with minimal effort, and last a really long time,I used 1and a half disks to get the whole side of my bus down to metal, they cost in the region of R30 a disk.
I also recomend using the Black & Decker Mouse sander, its standard sanding pads chew through putty and filler coats leaving the correct finnish 2 start applying putty and primer,it also has a sharp point on it,handy for getting onto corners and hard to sand areas, aswell as scuffing the paint in order to paint over it,......If any1 else wants to recomend anything else Paint & Body work,it would be appreciated, advice especially, there isnt much in the way of this topic on the forum,i think it could be valuble to add it to the stickys in the Genral or Advice columbs of the forum.

I payed a visit to a panalbeater 2day who has agreed out of the kindness of his heart to help get a few big dents out of my panal for free!!!!!!!!!Aswell as the use of his forman to panelbeat my all the panals and straighten them, and whats more,he will then put all the body putty on wear its needed and hav it ready to paint by no later than next wednesday, which leaves me with the spraying and the replacing of the trim, new rubbers, hopefully new mirrors, the valance and a few other odds and ends to do,cant wait!

Well,i just got back from the body shop and im pleased to announce that all the dents have been pulled, the badly out of shape front right wheel arch was pulled out and straightened. And the panals straightened as best they could,....so yes that means body putty, thankfully not that much, and they primed the side!!!!
not bad for a days work hey?

Pics to come,

Sambabus, is lead filling not an option? Does anyone know what the extra costs for lead filling is? Good to hear about the progress on your bus!!!
