I received this pic today - with Danie behind the wheel - If it wasn't for the RHD in the Kubel and modern cars in the background, you'd say it was 1944 all over again..
We had them made from the original WW2 cloth, cost us a bit but worth it altogether. You can see the pasenger on the left hand-side back had the uniform of a preacher(father) yes they had them to in germany WW2. We had lots of fun that day there were 3 type 181's and one of them were built to look like a real Kubel for the price of 100k. There were one Russian T34 and another german panzer wagon and about 5 motorcycles with sidecars we expected a Ketttingrad but it could't come. I will send Pine more pics of this later on. All of this was done under the name of the Heritage Group that is situated in Cape Town a group with the vision to keep the history alive.

Well Pine and me talked Friday evening and i'm considering starting to build them as this one or a vamped up one (customized mags and other colours), will take about 3 months to build one all I need will be a donar beetle. So it can be build for far less than 100k maybe about 30-40k. Just need to see if there will be anybody willing to buy them??.
Maybe start a bussines building them, just think a steel beach buggy sort-off. Well its nice to dream, anybody think this can work let me know at .

Well... the sky is the limit to your imagination. Although this one is based on a 181, I'll let the idea grow on you a bit

Hi All
Pine asked me to write something about a good thing that is hopefully going to happen to my replica Kubel. It's been invited to appear in a movie; yes my dream might come true it was built for a purpose didnt knew what but maybe this is it (it's been standing in the garage for two years now under covers).
The movie's name is "Angel of the skies" a South African production about a SA pilot shot down during WW2 and his strugle to get back home, meanwhile he's been chased by das Nazi's. I'm very excited and agreed to do this for free only thing will be my fuel costs from home to Dullstroom were it will be shot, the Kubel will travel via A-frame for all to see. We will keep you all updated on what is going to happen hopefully good news soon.
Regards Danie
