With you on that one Herman, maybe with a 2 tone light and dark beige interior.
I remember way back when Dixon posted a paint chart on a splitty that you could change the colours to see what it would look like, wonder if there is one for Beetles.

I think thats a great option.
Just be careful with the Azure blue and make sure it is the VW spec Azure Blue.
Oshkosh also used Azure Blue, which is very close to the colour of my bug. You've seen my bug and it doesnt look anything like the colour you are after.
I am pretty sure too that there are plenty other azure blue colours.

Azure blue is my favorite colour too, then pastel green. Sand beige was the most popular colour in SA when they were sold. Very practical, doesn't show dust as quick as the darker colours.

Was at a show with my Azure blue and Sand beige splits and I noticed the beige one was more popular.

So, the 1952 Split Beetle has gone to the Spray painters.

The Fugly A-Framed her into PE to have her new coat of Azure Blue (L36) applied by the most professional body shop in PE.

Whats good enough for the new VW's, will be fine by Her.

So as she may be there for a length of time, this thread may be dormant, but things are still happening in the back round.

Till then

Finally received the one missing door opening mechanism, had to go around the world for it, but it finally got here.

Now we wait for the painters so we can complete the build.

Must say a big thanks for the Cable operated Fuel gauge and sender unit gift you brought me Johan, will reciprocate with some well needed parts for you Fugly when my Fugly goes to the big aircooled organ doner exchange.

Thanks Again Johan.

OK .. so I finally took the LHD clock and disassembled it, cleaned it and rebuild it into a RHD clock.

Was convinced that VW of old,

would not waste money on having two different clocks,

and should be able to convert one to the other.

And it was so....

So now I have a RHD clock....

And we wait again, for both my baby's to get home with their new clothing......

Well the split beetle is still in paint, and looking good.

Will get some photo's this week, as I will be seeing her during visiting hour....

Been doing small parts assemblys and getting some badly needed parts together, but more on that at assembly.

The Back lights are the hardest parts to get, even that I have 3 suppliers that have then, its not easy to get them to parts with these gems.

We will pursue.......... :?

So ... the beetle is finaly ready for her new coat.

Packed a lunch basket, and went for my allocated half hour visiting time.....

But to be fair, she looks fantactic and can not wait to see her with a new lease of life, all shiny and "new"

so here goes..

So now I hear you all ask... What Colour is it going to be...????

Well as Paul has a Custard Autovilla, I was thinking of Barbie Pink ??

OK, ... charm down, it not that bad.

Its going to be Azure Blue as said before.

Exactly like this in fact.

Still waiting for the back lights, as they are still on their way by airmail.

so they will have to be painted after wards.

Still working on the internal small parts as most are not available, even for cash.

thanks for looking,

Herman
