Back by popular demand the early morning post
After being asked if im still alive cause we dont see you up early anymore 8)

Decided that the rest after the show has been long enough
so again the 4 am session this morning
Decided to strip the Halfs etc off the box to give it a real good clean
good news is that the oil that came out of the drain plug was good and clean with only a little muck in the sump plug - not any metal bits like the split :hangloose:
Nose cone was scratching so took that off to reveal a bit of sand inside there - note to self replace the outer bushing !
Must have been the years on the beach
All bearings are in top shape
So a good ol cleanup with a diesel bath
Blast off the outer covers with some sand and put back together again
Only thing that will be got is a outer seal kit and the gear selector outer bush

Slap on some chassis black and were good to fit
:hangloose:

Till later

Well today finished off sandblasting the gearbox case
All cleaned up and putting back together again
Soaking the halves in the molasses bath - some small rusts after blasting
Blasted off the steering arms - just waiting for the outer tie rod ends
Still to rubber the bottom of the pan

Seems all the bits are slowly comming together
:hangloose:

New shaft seal installed
Also greased up the release bearing
After stuggling for a while with the securing clips - lightbulb moment
Instead of holding the clutch lever with one hand and trying to get the clips in with the other - use some wire and wire it open
Made the job much easier with two hands - funny that
Crimped the clips a wee bit so that they are well secure

Will get are together again and then for a lick of paint

All black down the bottom then the ox blood red for the top
A wee bit of stainless to complete the picture

Got new outer bearings
All the other bits where cleaned like the okes on Gunsmoke - fine sanding to buff them up

:hangloose:

All back together again

Next some engine cleaner to get all the oils off and then some paint

How much oil goes into the box ???- 90 I take it is the grade ??

Is it fill to the overflow on the side ?? or is there an amount like 2 ltr ??

90 is correct.

2.5 to 3 litres. Fill until oil flows out the overfill screw.

Warwick, I would wait till you got the gearbox in position and all 4 wheels on the chassis as oil needs to travel down the axle tubes as well as fill the gearbox.
