I'm still working on the ad on's, originally i thought of making it silver but now i think it might be to much bling.
Now i'm thinking more towards a gun metal or dark silver, whatever you want to call it? Opinions welcome.

Why the 6 rib box???

Obviously you gonna get +/- 20 to 25 kph more in 4th gear but how you gonna travel up hills.

I think you gonna struggle with that 1600 on that box.

This is only my opinion........

But if you look at my Fastback thread, you will see I have the simile finish on my RED paint, which too is a bright shade, and I had to "Kill the chrome" to stop it looking like a Christmas tree. more black, more white less chrome, even blacked out the chrome around the wind-up windows on the doors.

But hey! that just me......

Actually the 6 rib has got a lower ratio, (4,5:1) i have checked. Compared to a 1600 beetle wich i think, correct me if i'm wrong is around 3,6:1. So with the big wheels at the back i'll be close to a standard 1600 beetle ratio. Oh yes and as far as know the 6 rib is the strongest standard aircooled box available

I have checked out you're fastback thread Herman and i think i'll go with the gunmetal colour and see how it look once it's done.
The side panels on the buggy will be black and not colour coded like ost buggies.

I planned on doing the roadworthy while on leave, but last week wednesday after fitting the sideshafts i discovered the gearbox jumps out of 1st gear. So now i've got a three rib 091 in the buggy till i can find spares to fix the six rib.
The roadworthy will have to wait for next week since i'll be away from home till friday. Apart from a couple of small things the buggy is finished at lasts.

Thanks for the compliments and all advice i got. I found a lot of answers to my questions on this forum without having to ask.
So thanks to the people who gave advice without knowing and the ideas i found on the forum.

I think nothing beats the satisfaction of DIY and coming out with a good end product like yours.
