Should you get a charger for the 6 v system, try to find one that will hold the battery at full charge without over charging.
These regular chargers, will "KOOK' you battery if always connected.

yeah dude. The charger my father bought is really awesome. He uses it for his Beamish Buggie which just stands in the garage. It charges and when it needs to and then, stops charging when it has reached "full" if you know what I mean. And it can be set to charge 6V as well as 12V. It is awesome.

He also uses it for the Ford Telstar which is sitting in the garage too.

Got that covered ;)

Why don't you start a new thread with a few photos, and where he got the charger, so others here can see what we speak of, and where to get it.

Mince, I love your car! I gave up on the oval dream and got me a '59 :( but she's still pretty cool

On the battery charger topic: I got a 6volt C-Tec charger from Battery Center. You leave it attached to the battery all the time, and just unclip a switch when you want to go for a spin. Holds the battery at a constant full charge. Was a bit pricey though...about R650

Okay guys. I finally have some time to give ya fellas a frikken update!
The front beam (sans shocks) is assembled, except for one thing. the nuts.

Image

I only have one nut on each side, so i am quite perplexed at how this actually holds into place. But luckily, I found another 2 nuts, 1 for each side, but I dunno if this is right. Maybe Bruce can tell me how this works. And also you can see the greased bearing is exposed. I know caps are still to go on, so is this also right?

Now, those backing plates. what. a. biatch.
Only did the front ones. the oven cleaner stuff worked well, but I was very impatient and I was stressing if it would eat away at too much, so I only managed to take some off and then tackled it with sandpaper, rust remover and then Hammerite. The brush on stuff. I prefer the aerosol version. It is all shiny and black, but being a perfectionist, I am still not happy. For now this will do. But down the line, when the car is driving and all and all, I would still like to get them done properly, like soda/sand blasting and powder coating.

Also having trouble with the one tie-rod. it just doesn't want to budge when it gets to a certain point. I will wait till the other oval gets here so i can see what that one is like.

By the way, here is the other one (in it very stripped condition)

I am told it is Horizon Blue in colour. Cannot tell because it look so dirty.

Now, this one has the VIN plate. My current one does not.
So, I dunno what to do.

Anyway. I was stressing big time about being hella broke because of this and about transportation of it. But it is currently en route and will arrive this coming Friday!

Then I can get dirty and REALLY start to work on what will be one SIIIIICK bug!

And just as a bonus, I took this with my phone and uploaded it to Instagram. I like it, thought I would share with yous guys :)

It is supposed to have 2 nuts locked together and with a locking plate between them. The plate has a tab that you bend into the slot on the stub axle.

The plate (aka tab washer) has two tabs, one is bent into the slot on the stub axle as Tony sayz, and the other wraps around the first nut. Take care not to tighten these nuts too much as your wheel bearings will overheat and seize.

Too loose and people will tell you to re-do your K&L pins...

cool. I have 4 of those tabbed washers that I think you guys are speaking.
Is there any photos showing how they are to go or a diagram?
I don't have the ones that wrap around the first nut though

it doesnt wrap around the nut completely, it will have a 2 "flaps". You bend these bits over each nut. One over the inner nut, one over the outer
