Barry, you have nothing to worry about.....tie fighter is so far behind, Vader isn't even posting on the site anymore, his thread has not had an update for weeks so he's the one paying for our fuel :D

Still quite a way to go yet. That darn pesky windscreen I've been putting off for so many months can't be delayed much longer now!!

COOL!

PS Barry how do you keep it from rusting while working on it? Or is that not a problem in S'bosch?

Jislaaik Barry, I cant say how impressed I am! Not 100% pure Beetle body(because of the mods at the back), but to be honest? It looks better than a lot of other Volksrodsters :!: :!: :!: :hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose: Respect! :hangloose:

Thanks guys. The bonnet has way more time it it than it should. Still needs some metalfinishing and tweaking. I should hav just made a new one - would have been quicker. There is now only 2 75mm strips of original tin on either side. Along with the lower part of each door (also modified) that's all the original VW metal left on the outer skin  8)

Eben rust isn't a major issue. I try to wear gloves whenever I'm working - bare hands cause rust very quickly. I cover parts with etch primer if I am odne with them. Just sanded it it off now as I am nearly ready to start to paint now, and will be using a twin pack etch primer onto the bare metal.

One thing I did discover - rust converters and welding don't mix!!!
There were some areas that I put rust converter on that I couldn't access that well (heater pipes etc) Anyway I decided to add more reinforcing below the doors, and when welding it in the heat caused fumes that made all exposed metal in the area flash rust in minutes
-almost as if the rust had been trapped and now escaped and neede a place to go and sit

Hey Rui - A Heb has been in my mind for a while now. Only problem is all the other cars in there with it. And I can only get them out one at a time.........VERY slowly........
