Good day fellow Volla owners. I am a Volla owner as of yesterday, inherited my dad's 1964 beetle. I'm here to get advice and learn more before I will start restoring it.
I will soon start a new thread to introduce the car with some photos and questions. Looking forward to hearing from the experts and enthusiasts.

Got my 1971 Beetle(1300) from my grandma in 2003 as my first car. Drove it for 5 years before it went into storage on the farm.

I towed it back to Pretoria this year because I finally have space at our new house for it.

Replaced the oil, battery and some fuel lines. Removed probably 50kg of rat turds
Filled the tank with new petrol but it still wouldn't start, at least the engine turned over.
Seemed like fuel was not getting to the Carb. So I filled the reservoir in the Carb with fresh fuel manually and presto, she took at the first turn, but did not want to maintain an idle at all. After a couple of runs and driving the car forwards and backwards about 5m each way, the starter does not want to turn over any more. Battery is fully charged.

So I am thinking of taking the old gal to a mechanic to get her engine running reliably to enable me to be able to drive her to various people to restore her to something close to her former glory. Maybe consider an updated interior styling but nothing drastic.

If anybody knows of good Beetle Mechanics in the Moot-Pretoria, please let me know. :D

Hi All
Thank you for such a great forum.
I am obviously a new member but another fellow aircooled addict. I have a couple beetles in various stages but approximately 9 months ago I fell in love with and purchased my first split window Kombi. As you can tell from the picture, it has a definite affinity with South Africa! (I am in Queensland, Australia). The 1965 Kombi Ambulance was just so solid and original (although missing some key Ambulance parts) it was a time warp that I had to have!
I'll start a post on it... I am really keen to learn more about it if possible.
Thanks again!
Kind regards
Tom

ah so thats where it ended up !

Congrats on owning such a special bus. Its a pity the seller did'nt collect all the info and pics and history of this ambulance ???

Aliwal North is pretty much off the beaten track, I don't think any members here will have first hand info for you :(

Thanks Jolas. I think it went threw a few hands before me, all of whom did nothing with it. Agreed it is a shame someone didn't keep any history but I am confident I'll track something down (one day) - what I would give for one pic! There are a couple holes in the front that I'd love to know what went there.
