Hi , I'm Derrick , don't have a VW ( or any other old cars ) at present - used to have a 1200 Beetle from 1957 back in the 70's , one of those with the concertina type folding Sunroof - a really excellent car that I always regret selling . My Partner had a '63 1300 for many years , also good , but it rusted far more than the 1200...later went on to Jetta , Fox etc.( the 1800 Jetta was pathetic but the Fox 1600 was good )- neither had the character of the Air cooled cars in my opinion.
I admire well done Restomods but I prefer a proper restoration ( maybe with some upgrades for modern conditions ! )

Hi, I am new here. I have been a VW fan for many years now. Im hoping I can learn some things and get some solid advice on how to get my bug in top condition. Shes quite scrappy but mechanically runs very well. In the 5 or so years I have owned it, I have had all kinds of fun and headaches, yet she is a mostly reliable daily runner. Just thought I would introduce myself and tell you about my machine, which sometimes has more personality than I do.

cheers,

yes busy with a 74 beetle getting mechanicals sorted for roadworthy and have a 72 bus that is in storage at the moment that i am struggling with to get the paperwork ( or papermess) sorted will probably have to reintroduce it.
Also have a non aircooled 72 mini stationwagon project in storage which i will not discuss on this site.

Hi all from a Newbee,
My name is Craig, and I hail from Cape Town. I have just added my First VW to my car collection. It's a 1975 Splitwindow Fleetline bus. It is 90% complete. I have managed to get it started and has gears. Just the seats and a few odds and ends missing. The body is rusted badly. So I guess there are going to be long nights fabricating and replacing panels. I look forward to the wisdom and advice from this forum to get me through the build. Cheers

Hello all, not new but wasn't active when I joined in 2010.
I am a big opel fan. On my 7th opel.
We have had a bay window for over 10years now and for at least the last 8 years it has just been standing and rusting. We have sourced a new body and waiting for it to be delivered. Then the project will finally begin.

Sure you will enjoy it here with us and just remember we are all Aircooled addicts here, and as its a sickness, you are destined to become one as well.
Allow us to share in your joy by opening a project thread, and posting lots of photo's
