Re: 58' Karmann
It's possible. The only problem is that lowlight ghia’s were only produced in LHD. Even done professionally it would affect the value of the car. You will need a RHD pedal assembly, RHD floorpan, RHD pitman arm, RHD Dashboard. If your tierod is non adjustable, you will need a RHD one as well.
I agree with Sambabus. I would leave it LHD but that's me.

Re: 58' Karmann
Remember, we have two lowlights being restored. Only one will be made into a RHD, the other will probably end up being restored to almost original. Actually we already have a RHD floorpan, front suspension etc. We also have a lead on a RHD dash, hopefully that works out.
And come on, who wouldn't like to have KG as a first car?
Besides, the only way that anybody will ever get me to get rid of that car ever will be to drag my cold dead body out of it
So its sale value is not a issue.

Re: 58' Karmann
About licencing the LHD vehicle.
Seeing as I now also have a LHD project, I did some homework.
The info I got thus far is this:
The relevant regulation prohibiting the use of LHD vehicles is:
Regulation 200 (2) (a) of the National Road Traffic Act 2000.
You can apply for an exemption from the conditions of Regulation 200 (2) (a)
I have an actual copy of such exmption - so it does get done.
According to this exemption, there are no limitations on the use of the vehicle.
In Gauteng this is done on the 10th floor of the TPA building (c/o Bosman and Pretorius Street Pretoria)
Currently they do not have working telephone lines to that department - so the application needs to be done in person.
