Hr - you getting into the early morning habit ??

Well what with the Grand Slam day did not have a full go at the buggy this weekend
But before the event and yesterday morning
Cleaning the shafts and the gearbox - a wee bit of the speed wheel with the grinder and then a blast with some sand to give a good key for the paint
also cleaning the front tubes of all the grease and sand that got in there
Got all the drums and pads back from Grand Slam - so brakes all done just need to assemble

Job list for the week
Hone the king and link bushes and polish all the pins
Have 2 sets one from the manx and the other from the donar pan - hope to get one decent set out of the lot
Front axle tubes spent the day in the sun to "heat' up the grease and then a blast with the high pressure washer - this will happen a few more times to get most of the gunk out and then will have the jeyes soak to clean it out good and proper
Finish off the blasting of the box
Paint up all the clean bits with some chassis black
will also paint up the rims while I have the mix out

Hopefully some fresh sand will arrive that I can finish off blasting the rest of the pan
Need to also fit the pipes in the tunnel

Project is nearly there
Just have to keep reminding myself take it slow and finish off properly

well atrip to Grand Slam yesterday saw me part with some more cash
After thinking that I could re-use some of the kings and links I said to self - Self you have already taken all the effort to take these things appart so why on earth do you want to put back half a job of parts !!
So one by king and link pin set came home with me
So last night put in the kings
And this morning put in the links

Tips from The Uncle Slam
Cut a we groove in the outside of the link barrel - will help getting the grease in there
Make sure the hole is in the right orientation - second one I pressed in had the hole at the bottom
Pressed the link barrels in with a 12mm socket and then seated them by using the link pin and a hammer -Uncle Slam again
Measure up the offset 12mm less the 6mm flat bar so 6 mm it is - so upper inner 6 shims and and outer 4 shims - lower arm is the reverse
Re cut all the grease nipple treads

Good ol clean

As yesterday body awake and the kop was still dossing

What amazement when when this pops out of the dirt and rust

Good visit with uncle Bruce yesterday
I had forgotten how beatiful the drive over the Franshoek Pass is

Well today found myself passing a clapped out Mazda with a cool looking rack on the top
Few seconds of thought and then a U turn and followed the rack back to the township
After much flashing and hooting the dude eventually stops
After my question about the rack if it was for sale
Reply - Maaak maar n offer
So 300 Zar later at the autobank and the rack is with me
Stirling stuff I say

Hre pic of my #1 helper hunter

Some progresss on the bottom of the pan

Gonna try out some filter sand on the rest of the pan

Another score were some 14 inch wheels lying around at the local tyre repair spot
After some enquiries found out to belong to a mate who has just had newer ones fitted to his MG b
Quick call and we get them for 0 - deal being a ride in the Manx when she is done :hangloose:

Trial fitted onto the rossis for the front and will work
