Since the electionic ignition burn out I had the internals changed with points...sorry I'm still learning a lot when it comes to engines (noob)...so not too sure if it has a ignitor or not

Wonder if the Golf internals will work on the 009 as I would really like to go back to the electronic setup as that's what I orginaly wanted

You'll have to measure and compare the 009 with the Golf ditributor then, but i'm sure it will be the same diameter.
I have even used Golf internals in a bosch dizzy for a Ford and it were a perfect fit.

Thanks riaanj. There was'nt lots of progress during the last two or three months, bit cold for the garage at night.

At last i made some progress for a change. Got the body primed, the front bumper finished, made the side bars and roll cage and stripped the rear suspension to lower the torsion bars and do the rear brakes and bearings.

Wo man that realy looks good. Interesting read,- can you pls advise, did you use the standard coil or did you upgrade? Ive done the exact conversion,and the guy from goldwagen said i can use the same coil, i installed it this morning, but cannot get it fired up. some guys are adament that i need to use a coil suitable for electronic ignition.. Advise will be much appreciated

The "other guys" are correct. I'm sure someone else can give technical reason why they are correct.

Nice work arno. How many points are you going to secure the roll cage to onto the chassis? Will you be making a flat plate to run between from and rear upright?

I'll be using a bosch electronic coil from a golf. Electronic coils have a much higher output than a normal coil, ensuring a much stronger spark. And thats one of the reasons why you would want to upgrade to electronic ignition. Best advice i can give is go to scrapyard and buy genuine bosch coil from a golf, they very seldom give problems.

The roll cage will be secured at 4 points. The pan had been strengthened with 40x40x3 square tubing wich makes the pan quite ridged and also serve as a body lift.

NICE!!!

During the last week i overhauled the maste cylinder and the rear wheel cylinders and fitted all new brakelines. I also sprayed and polished the body. Feels like i got something done for a change.
