Yup..............the car blew up.

Kidding..............Britz came around to get a taste of the type 4 and so I thought that I'd wash the car as she was looking pretty dirty, so I pull out of the house and the car is spluttering a bit, so I'm thinking, bit of water in the dizzy...........but nope, in the middle of Van der Hoff and Bremmer, she decides to cut out..................moer.

Won't start, no matter what we tried, so luckily we roll down the road and eventually turn into a quieter side road, blitz agrees to stand watch and i walk the 2-3 blocks to go get some spanners and rags.

Walking back I'm thinking that damn the fuel pump was really making a noise, so sure enough as I get back to the car, I remove the fuel line and bam presto, she's dry........................doh, such a noob mistake, so I grab a bottle, walk the other way and go to fill up juice. Garage won't fill a 2 litre bottle, so I'm stuck, that was until a baja owner gave me a 5 litre bottle and a lift back to the speedy...........................it was a sign, get back to the car, top her up, she turned over a few times and started......she was backfiring a bit and missing as well, so I guess that I've picked up some crap from the bottom of the tank, will have to clean the jets this week.

I'll have to get the gauge sorted as it's still totally out of wack, but I think that overall, Blitz is pretty impressed.

Here's a vid of the car in the garage. I'll post up a highway run soon enough.

Also did some work on it this weekend as well, I've pulled both the front and rear openers for the hood and engine lid as am going with a gas shock from a honda ballade, what's nice is that this set is small, will easily hold open the lids and also allows me to use all the honda clips, so it's very neat.

Also got around to cleaning up the passenger side, there was a bit of surface rust, but nothing serious as well as lots of old flaking paint that I wanted to remove before painting and carpeting, so on top of removing the crap gear lock, I had a bit more to do than normal. Ready to do the other side this weekend and then paint the whole thing in final coat, then I can sound deaden the floors and prep for carpet.

Clean the jets this week as well as do an oil change and replace the filter and then I can get a start on the final fibregass work.

That motor is awesome!! It pulls very strongly and makes a wicked noise with that super cool exhaust and the whine from the fan...

Nice work IMPI :hangloose:

The next time that someone says a 2.0 Type 4 is :bn: , I'll just look at them and laugh sadly at their ignorance, because this motor is still a low compression 2.0, with only a wild cam and some carbs, with no balancing or or a lightened flywheel yet it pulls way stronger than even a modded Type 1

Still can't get the cheesy grin off my face, thanks again! :hangloose:

Yup dude, that motor pulls very nice........like I was telling you, don't listen to the masses, you've done your homework, you have a plan, just stick with it. Sometimes it takes someone like Armand to give you the push that you need. My motor has been a project for the better part of almost 3 years now and Armand says that we probably have another 6 months to go.

Now that I've tasted a basically stock type 4, I'll never go back to a type1. Bang for buck it has it beat on almost all levels.

Bear in mind that the reason that this engine works so well for my set-up is that the speedster at the most weighs a little over 700kgs. As Armand said to me and blitz, he had this motor in his type 3 and it didn't do anything at all. He was shifting gears all the time and the car was dead.

In my speedster however, it's another thing altogether.

granted, I however suspect Blitz's definition of a wild cam is a little closer to mild.

I don't think that this cam is too wild, as too wild would not allow me to sit in bumper to bumper traffic for 40 min while driving to work.

deff mild.............but then again, even Armand said that he's not 100% sure what's actually in there.... :D

indeed, I know that it would kill a few so called "built" type-1 motors in here.

EXACTLY............that's what makes my car so punchy.......fullstop. I could already feel the extra weight when blitz was sitting shotgun and he's a lightweight..................lol.
