Its all relative.....Shockless is fine...They ride just as good as the same set-up with shocks.

Ok i will be running shocks since its illegal not to and i would like a corner and not have to worry that i mite end up on my roof, So got the Template for the shock towers sent to me and now just have to find someone with a laser cutter to cut them...oh yes and for those of u who wanted pics since im only about to leave to go fetch beam, this is what a 6 inch narrowed beam with drums looks like.

Looking for a splitscreen panelvan - have a year or two to find one. If you know of one, please let me know.

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (I cant be 14 forever)
Ok so after a long time and lots of saving things will be happening a bit faster on the beetle
Using the money i have saved i will be finninshing off the pan...
Pan halves - Splitfan has them at the best price i have found so will speak to him.
Front beam - will be a beam that i recently started to build (from scratch) so will get the bushings and last bits I need and then just have the king and link pins done.
Engine - Today I payed for the cars horses,So she has a engine
will most probally give it a service and all that and then once i saved up enought will send it to IMPI to get overhauled
Gearbox - For now will be a standard gearbox (dont want to have much done on the gearbox untill the engine is overhauled and given some more power)
Then its just the small things that finnish it off will keep you all posted

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (I cant be 14 forever)
Ok so there havent been pictures in qote some time
but soon there will be loads
....
So have some info and a few pics of what has been happening on the beam....
So the beam tubes are sitting at 1m lenghts at the moment, untill I have made sure what the lenght of a standard beam is and then they will be cut to lenght once that is done the "weld on" adjusters can then be placed and welded. The beam which is sitting @ 6" narrowed will at a later stage be built up but for now this beam im building will be used. The uprights are a piece of rectangular tubing that gets 4 holes drilled which will look almost identical to any upright found on a vw beetle beam, once the holes are cut using a hole saw the rectangular tubing will be cut straight down the center creating two identical uprights, once this is done the two mounting holes that sit on each upright will be drilled.Once the uprights are done they will be put into a jig where they will sit at the correct distances between the 4 holes (that hold the beam to the pan) with the pipe lying above it where with alot of carefull measuring will be tacked together. (wow if only it was as easy as this
)Once all welded up i will move onto sorting out the shock towers ,unfortunatly the template i got was resized and will never get it to the right size it needs to be
So if anyone has a beam lying around that they wouldnt mind tracing the shock tower for me it, would be greatly appreciated (my shock towers for beams are somehwhere inbetween a pile of metal at the metal merchants) You only need something once you have given or thrown it away
Pics on there way.....

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
Engine (Forgot to get pics before it was stripped to get steam cleaned
)

Am going to have it rebuilt into a stock twinport 1600 for now and then later on add the extras to give it that extra punch
Does anybody know how hard it is to convert a singleport oil colled to a Twinport?
Will try to keep updated pics as we start to move towards the pan.....

Re: The re-Birth of Toy 1 (o\_!_/o)
Do you still have the dimensions for the pan roller?
If it's too low, you're too old
