We all know Bobby is going to be an award winning car, that's for sure! :hangloose: :hangloose:

Understandably you have ad lib to sell the parts to whomever you want. That is a given. I wasn't implying that they had to go to the first person asking, I was shocked at the belittling comment on the amount of posts Jozi had and the direct implication that he didn't "qualify" to be considered. Let's put it this way, at some stage long, long ago you were also on only 21 posts. How well would you receive a comment paralleling what's been written to Jozi from some big-wig who happens to have 1 x Bus restoration splashed across the pages of this forum in vivid color, together with another one-of-a-kind Beetle resto on the go? It's quite intimidating and would most certainly be off-putting to me. I'd like to think of this forum as a place of encouragement and enlightenment - a breath of fresh air, if you like.

New guys (like myself) are also incredibly ambitious and eager and dream of the day where a bumper-to-bumper restoration can be at our finger tips. On the other hand, some of us think our car's are perfect just as they are (like mine!!  ) and don't need to aspire to such great heights. It's all relative. I picked up some animosity in the writings - forgive me. If every newbie were to leave, there would be only the big-gun restorers and multiple-car-owners left... not many left to write to if you think about it.

Encourage the newbie's, they are often not as fortunate as others a lot of the time but are here for a reason; to share in a group interest.

Hi-jack over, I promise!! :D :D :D

Sheesh, it is late, so I have an excuse, but I totally misread that for a second  and then let out a deep sigh of relief, almost thought Frank had some explaining to do when he got back

Reading it your way.....very worrying

Heading back tonight after a totally :bn: week. Seen 26 schools and still no clearer. I hate the English school system as no one can give any clarity as all has to go through the local authority. Before they will talk to you, you need an address in the UK near the school...... :finger4u:

Problem, I don't have an address  and I don't know which school to go and find a rental home near :jerkoff: :zhelp:

I'm coming back to the heat and sun!!!!

HR, Company said they can't get them from the US at the moment.....I don't think they are placing orders as I think cash flow might be a problem :(

Popped in to see Bobbie on Wednesday before leaving to Dubai. I did have the camera but couldn't take a picture as she was up on the lift with another car underneath.

Just to let everyone know the progress....

[*] all the glass is in
[*] the original gearbox is out
[*] the Buggered box has had the front changed and all new engine (original ones of course) fitted ready to go in
[*] the rear half of the pan has been stripped and coated with underseal to protect for years. Jurgen was leaving to dry and double check for total coverage before fitting the new box
[*] we have decided to fit the wider rear drive shafts for safety as we have the bigger engine and it will not be really noticeable
[*] carpets and roof lining in and we will work on fitting the seats soon

In addition Mo has had all the gear selector shafts, rods, couplings & bushings replaced with CIP1 ones so now she should be much easier to drive so Mrs Dutch can come play too!!!!

Pictures when I get back I hope!!!!! :hangloose:

OK....update but not too much to share.

Here is a picture of the jack that has been restored and ready to go back in when the time is right

Image

And then Bobbie was up in the air as we are working on the underside now

Image

So what we doing? The bottom is all being cleaned and treated

Image

As you can see the gearbox is out and the rear underside is treated. Jurgen has had to work on another customers 58 beetle as it needs to go out. He also is doing engine work on a Porsche 356, type 2 engine, finishing off a full restoration on a lowlight bay (noise from the left side rear wheel) and someone ran a beetle engine with no fan belt so that's dead too!

Anyway, picked up Mo and the gear selection is like new! No more stirring custard!!! :D
