I did think that and we got a sample...but when all put together there was too much red. We then though red carpet and 2 tone seats, Red on top and the sides cream but that started to take away from originality as Bobbie's original seats were all one colour just blue with white piping.

In wanting to keep original look but change the colour, the seats had to be red totally. We did then think of refittng the rubber carpet as was in good condition but I wanted a little luxury and Jurgen really wanted the rubber mat so that's how we ended up with her as she is. All the original seat covers, door panels and rubber mats have been added to Jurgen's secret supply to help someone out in future just like he's found stuff to help me....like a NOS floor pan, the correct roof lining material and the latest I'm trying to get is a set of original reflectors whih I don't think have ever been fitted to a car but not sure Jurgen will let go yet :D

Can't wait until we get to add some of the special original extras that I've managed to source as the job continues.....I leave the surprises though!!! :flash: :hangloose:

looks great dd.
i stuffed up a bit on my pannels tho.i refitted my door handle (which meant that i had to punch holes in the panel). i really hate those black handles :x and would prefer not to have any on it(like yours). maybe i can use upholstery spray and colour code them.
anyone knows anything bout this :zhelp: (sorry bout the hyjack  )

Well that's news to me. I never knew you were gauged on your activity and moreover got preference to items on offer in lieu of. I suppose we all need to find a project and have some 31 pages of joint scribblings to qualify... I do enjoy the change rank as you accumulate posts though and would love to be a "Short Block" or something equally as fun, but I don't see the necessity to have to reply to everything everyone writes all the time. It's a matter of specific interest in current discussions and obviously your desire to post which some of us might not have much to say, or, might not be on the forum as much as others. Obviously, someone having a project or two promising weekly updates will have more "traffic" on the forum... Sorry Dutch but your statement a little unfair. Your car however is undoubtedly perfection though. A real beaut!! (I view this thread often)

Onward with the resto... :D

Gavin, Thanks for the nice words on Bobbie....just to clear up, original parts I have belong to me and I will give to whomever I believe is a true ACVW lover and is truly trying to restore a beetle to 100% original (i.e. including all the seats and panels)! My comment if purely that to offer advice, help, have a project that you are sharing, etc would help.

Anyway no point in going on as they are mine and for now are staying mine!
