Are those the jigs for the IRS conversion?

Yup.

The donor pan - now the property of the mate doing the work on mine - was used to make the jigs.

I'm getting excited now... :D

Got some really bad news late last week...which is going to add a few non-existant k to my bill. :(

Firstly, the donor turned out to be a converted auto, hence the wrong gearbox...which means the box is completely useless with our plans, and cannot be used.

As a result, we are searching for internals for the case we found. :(

...and then my chassis builder called...after replacing a section of the one pan that was rotten, we discovered major trouble under the paint...the pans are vrot.

I can't afford 6k to land an OEM set of pans here from WW, so we have to go for the available pans...0.8mm as opposed to 1mm.

They're a bit more flimsy, so we need to do some work to them, and weld in stronger seat frames.

I saw my pan yesterday, and the IRS work is looking good, real good.

Depanned, and awaiting the fitment of the new ones...correct jacking points and 1.7mm seat rails are correct, and much better quality than the old Braz' ones.

The rails are being welded for extra strength.

Looking pretty good there Nic. I'm impressed. Who's doing the bulk of the chassis work for you?

Nice work Nic!

Thanks guys.

I've got quite a few guys helping me out with my bug. They all have their areas of expertise. :)

Parts [Watercool], metalwork [Eric], engine [Calooker], gearbox [Bugger], transport and general assistance [offline mate], etc....and my good friend Bill helping me out on the History front. ;)

I'm not sure if you've met Eric? He's doing most of the work on my chassis, and has helped me big time with everything related to the donor, and a LOT of the work on my bug. :)

It goes for powdercoating - matt - next week.

When it's back we retap the holes, clean it up, install all of the bushings, etc. sort out lines, new brakes [need to get my braided hosing sorted], electroplating, assembly, etc.

Painting the 'box and engine...got some detailing in mind.

Then it comes Home, we fit the body back on, sort out some metalwork on there that needs doing before it's driveable...

I'll be fitting all of the extra goodies to it.

Awaiting some kit from the US for the tranny - Bugger's helping out there. I've got some real trick bits going in there.

Calooker's got the engine front sorted, and my Serpentine kit is being dropped off there this weekend.

...and then I'm sorting out some interior/exterior bits, and sorting out a neat idea with my panels.

That's the extent of this work. No money for more, and I want it driveable until the next phase - atleast a year or two further down the line.

Shot Chris. :)
