Re: My Barnyard Manx Find
Messy yes
Work like a bomb YESSSSSS
Dumb ass tests on thumb and nearly takes all the skin off
What was I thinking
Luckely only the drifsells in the pipe and not a full blown stream
This is going to be fun
Got some plastic sheeeting from the tunnels roof that will transform the workshoppe into something looking like a murder sceen from a Tarintino movie
Hopefully will catch enough of the sand to be reused

Hey Warwick
Make sure you wear a mask & protective clothing - that sand stings like a galeforce wind on Strand Beach
Nice job so far

Life's a Blast...
I bet Warwick named the blaster Sandy and may be the best B.. J.. he would ever get
Sandblasting is like having sex on the beach - never can get the sand out of the cracks

like Jurgen said..."wear a mask"
also best you tape up any exposed orifices, the sand worms it's way in everywhere.....
once in the rhythm you just want to blast stuff...anything !

Re: My Barnyard Manx Find
Well played around with the Manx today
Got a beeg wire cup and attached to the big grinder and spun away
Works wonders on all that mukky stuff but seems will have to get blasting for the rusty bits
Last pick shows wire brush and then sand blasting arera on the left
Gonna hire a bigger compressor for the weekend and get a wack of sand and hope for a good day outside
Found chassis Number
just wondering what year
SF 1102894474
Anyone
Going to need a good wash tonight

Re: My Barnyard Manx Find
Wife been in Bella Bella for the week so I get one of Seans days in the shed 13 hrs
Started early with the stripping of the bugggy front end
Rented a beeg compressor for some sand blasting
Unluckely only one bag of sand so had to keep on gathering up and sieving
Good day made some progress
This pan is realy going to take some time
Got all the other bits soaking overnight so some early cleaning in the morning before the family comes for lunch
Got some spareparts from the donar pan maybe some cloning of bits like link pins etc
Will see whats in the best shape
seems there is also some wear on the needle bearings - could be a mission to get the old ones out
Looking forward to a wash and a beer or 2 now

Nice progress there Warwick.
I had to get my skippers ticket this weekend, so unfortunately no kombi progress.

Re: My Barnyard Manx Find
Hr - thats why this stuff happens at this time of the day
Need a bit of ZEN time befor we get into the fields for the apples and get them Tjooks nice and fat for you people out there
Still awaiting the arrival of the sand then can get that pan done and primed
With the little that is left will be sorting out the backing plates for the rear
Have had some fum with some porting tools and refurbed the masters and slaves
New rubber kits all round
For those of you that have a local near you these porting brushes are the business
Them barrels are rifle clean
cant show picks as there is too much flashback
Hope to get the front tubes all cleaned out -bit of the blast sand got in there -then put the whole lot together again - got new bearings for the front yesterday- just wheel as the needles seem fine -but will have a closer inspection when all cleaned up
Drained the gearbox oil and thank goodness no bits fell out like with the Split - oil also nice and clean
So this will just get a top-up with some new axle boots
have also been helping Adrians son put his Mini Moke back together
Has just got his brakes back from Grand Slam
Slide port brush in then attach to you airtool
By lowlightwarwick at 2012-09-12
Master and fronts done - now will do the rears
By lowlightwarwick at 2012-09-12
All the drums have been skimmed and new pads - from the very near Grand Slam Team
The more I think about it - the stopping power needs to be top as with the power to weight ratio the Manx will be a cool little ride
Off I go to go and blast some metal
