Yup, I know how to drive my Thing.

But Sheez, A plasma cutter is a awesome cutting tool.

As fast as you could draw a line with a pencil on the metal, this torch will cut it.

I wonder if this if what the cash heist guys use to get into the cash vans???

Here are some pics of the rims getting a scrub, primer, paint, Tyred and fitted to the front of the Bus Bug.









This gives us 400mm + to the bottom of the lower torsion bar.

Now that is one big wheel.......you going to get real 4x4 tyres....they look like road tyres?

Its Big Toe. Think you saw it in Hermanus.

The Pic of the Dash was taken before I rode it out my shop, on way to Hermanus Whale n Wheels.

The Odo now reads 82935km

Thats 4500km and we are stripping and rebuilding this bug again.

BTW. If anybody is looking for a good LWB chassis with all round disks new floor pans, this one will be available soon.

it was but it was impossible to drive because the engine didnt have enough power and it kept breaking because the beetle chassis cant take the tyres

The 1600TP and the large wheels required you to slip the clutch @ 2500 to get it going. The plus was a good cruizing 3rd with a overdrive.

The large front wheels, even though the King and Link pins were redone, Kept pulling the top Link Pins apart. I have since found out this is a problem when fitting over size front wheels.

I am tried of the swing axle look from the rear.

Drum brakes battled to stop the large wheels turning. The all round disk conversion made things worse.

When building your own one of, you only realise your short commings once it is running.

Hi Tom, this is very interesting. Why did the discs make it worse? I would have thought otherwise.
