If I remember correctly, you can use any type 1, 2 ,3 or type 4 block. Engine cc is free. Only carbs permitted, no fuel injeciton.

So you can build one mean engine. The only thing to keep in mind is, the classes are based by your lap times. So if you go too fast you break ot of your class into a faster class. My bug will probably be in class E.

Cool, learnt something new.

Here is another question though, and I dont mean it in a funny way. But what will stop someone with a HUGE motor, to 'throttle off' deliberately to be just under the required lap time and stay in a class he doesnt realy belong in? So that when it somes to race day, he can push it to REALY just under the limit, but beat all the rest? In other words, what stops him cheating?

Nothing keeps you from doing that. We'll that will just be no fun. I would not be surprised if there are guys doing that.

They do check your lap times with a transponder and no in car lap timing is allowed. So cheating is not easy, except if you stay behind the first car. :)

Keep up the good work...

What are the costs apart from the car to join and keep competing in this class?? Entrance fee's, joining fee's etc.

If everything falls in place I'll race in the David Piper race.... it is only three weekends away. Maybe I make it, maybe not.

Entrance fees are +- R800 per event. I cannot remember what the club fees are. If your car is reliable the running costs are low. Oil changes and fuel. Tyres only once a year if you really need to.

Plus fuel... How much do you use on a week-end?
How many meets a year?

I estimate around 15lt of fuel per race. One qualifying and two races per day.
About one meeting per month.

Got some more goodies today...

Tappet covers empi bolt on
Swivel feet adjusters for the rockers
Empi cool plates (forget me not)
Rings (hastings)
Hex bar linkage kit. My old linkage was crap that's on my 44mm idf's.

My sleeves are back from engineering as well, so hopefully I can assemble the engine a bit further this weekend.

I still need cromoly pushrods and a new cromoly flywheel nut :( Volkspares stock only coming in next week friday :(
