There was a leak on cylinder nr3. As soon as you get a leak, it'll make a blow tortch effect. There is a hole on the side of my cylinder head.... but at least it's fixable.

The traction with my semis were quite good, only wheelspin in 3rd gear on the table top. I was really surprised with the torque... It took my about two laps to get use to the torque. She scared my big time. :) Awesome topend speed as well

Do you lap your cylinders into the cylinder heads with valve grinding compound? I believe that quite a few Type 4 guys do that to ensure a good seal,as type 4's have a bit of a leak issue when the washers collapse.

I think there's two reasons here...
1. Bad cylindr head. Maybe bubbles in the casing
2. Cylinder depths not the same.

I'll keep that in mind as well.

So I've taken out the turbo engine, this will be going into my project split. The change over has started to go race historics.

The digital dash was removed. A set of auto meter instruments will now go in to keep an eye on the n/a engine. As soon as the shops open again I'll get a piece of aluminium to refab a new dash.

The tach is just over 3" with memory recall. (So my dad can check that I keep the rpm to a resonable level)

Oil temp, Oil pressure and volts. What more do you need... Oil temp in 'f to keep to the californian style.

The setrab cooler stays, now with ducting to force all the airflow available through it. The ducting was fabbed from a for sale sign and duck tape. Easy to work with and light.

MSD ignition will take care of the spark. MSD billet distributor with manual advance (no electronic advance allowed in historics), 6AL module with 7200rpm limiter and MSD 8mm plug leads. Potent enough for any electric fence :)

The fueling will be taken care of by a set of 44mm Weber IDF carbs. We're assembling the engine on friday. I'll try to take some pics :hangloose:

For now a wild 1776cc type 1.

Counterweight 69mm crank
90.5 mahle pistons and sleeves
Scat c55 camshaft
Type 1 modded heads with bigger valves and huge ports
Standard rockers
Cromoly pushrods
Weber 44mm idf carburetors
Dry sump

Later maybe a 1914cc type 1.
