No lead on the SP as it was long gone, the harness condition showed no possibility of the car being any better.

So we got the oil drained, the sump plated drilled and tapped, for the thermocouple for the oil temp. gauge, and wired it up.

Installed the air suspension feed air pipe to the back air bags.

Replaced the brake light MC switch as the old one did not work. so now we have brake lights

Busy installing the two 34 ICT Webers and working out the cross arm system for the accelerator linkages.

Will be cleaning out the tank, as we are ready to connect the fuel line to the fuel pump via the fuel filter.

Engine sealing rubbers are in and looking good.

Tested the new reverse light switch and that's also now working.

Well we will see you all again on Sunday

Yes its Sunday night again, and we did a few things to MeFusco.

Been a sad day for me but life goes on.

Managed to get the tank clean with petrol, let it dry out and air blow and vacuumed the tank clean.

During this time we fitted the air reservoir tank under the cab within the chassis space.

Installed the tank with the fuel level float system and tested it.

Good thing I did as it was reading opposite, so I had to inverse the rheostat on the float arm.

Installed the fuel line via the fuel filter to the pump previously installed.

Also installed the vapor outlet pipe and ran it up to the top of the cab and back down out the cab to breath freely to the outside.

This was done to stop any liquid from discharging but allowing only air/fumes.

This will all be covered by upholstery.

As I need to make up an cross arm for the carb linkages, I need to go do some shopping for 12 mm pillow block bearings.

Will take some photo's later in the week when I feel better.

So another week has come and gone, and thanks guys, was a bad week, lost my brother, as well as my brother-in-law as well as a year ago Johan Eagle past away.

May they all rest in peace........

To all that have family that has been Touched by this covid, my condolences and let us all stay safe.

We did some work on MeFusco, trying to get our mind onto other things,

we have fitted the ICT carbs, and have made the linkages and cross bar for the accelerator connection.

We have also assembled the doors with all the window winders and lock linkages.

Being a scrap / smashed Beetle to start with, we got all the gaps correct and now sit with the lock blocks that do not line up,

Had to start cutting and welding again on the painted MeFusco..... oh well we with just have to make good again, thats all.

Have a dilemma now as I would like to retain as much from the scrap beetle as possible but the two side windowed as badly scratched.

Should I keep them for history or change them for new glass, all shiny and tinted ..........

Also set my toe-in on my front wheels, have made me a slide bar, which makes it a 5 minute job and its spot on.

If interested, I will photo the bar and explain its use.

Glass,.....when you in Stoffel Mefusco,....how many / long will the window be up for you to look through it ?,....that will determine new glass or not.

So here are photo's of my toe-in setting stick

As you will see I have taken a 32 mm and a 25 mm PVC pipe and fitted them inside each other.

To make the grip tight, I cut a slot into the 32 mm pipe about 75 mm and turned tape around it to get a firm hold on the 25 pipe so you need a lot of effort to slid it in and out.

This helps to not loose your setting when you under the car.
You then touch the tips onto the highest part of your tyre bump in front of the axle.

You then measure the same way at the back of your axle and adjust your toe-in accordingly.

If you drive fast you set the front of wheel setting about 5 mm smaller then the back of the wheel.

If you drive slower 3 mm will do.

You can do a calculation to get the exact difference you need if you have the manufacturers settings.
