Hi Blitskrieg, I don't know if you remember me, I met you at that show in June at the Mint, you were driving that blue rusty fasty. I asked you several dom questions about Type 3's and you helped me out very patiently
I have a few more questions if you'll bear with me? Thanks, Paul.

Yes I certainly do remember you. Unfortunately that Fasty is sold, I didn't have any of your contact details so couldn't offer it to you.
Drop me a PM with any questions and I'll try my best to answer

Re: '68 Fastback
Towed it to Dirk's workshop this morning. Told him to finish it up so that I can drive it out of there

To say that I'm sick and tired of this project is an understatement
Oh well, school fees paid, lessons learnt, may the next aircooled be a much smoother and easier process
My original plan was to have it repainted and tweaked further.
However that has changed.
I'm just going to rim it on a set of widened steelies with some stretch on the tyres, maybe lower it a little more, put some cool stickers on and drive with a smile, cracked filler, scratched paint and all...
I have a whole box of bits that were supposed to go on here, but will rather save them for a future, unhacked Type 3 build.
Have disc brake spindles, almost enough parts for a mildish Type 4 engine etc etc.
I hope that the next time I update this it will be me smiling and driving it. Holds thumbs.
Thanks to Dirk from FIM Dienste for helping me to tow it this morning

Re: Blitzkrieg's Fastback
Halo, if I may ask, what did you do to the engineBlitzkrieg wrote:One day,one day when I'm totally happy with the car, the sad story of this car's engine saga will be told....![]()
Here's a lesson to all prospective ACVW project builders. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THAT YOU READ ON THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!
Stick to the word of your local SA based ACVW expert and everything will be good.
*rant over*
As it stands, engine completely assembled - Heads torqued the works, now I need to put pushrods in, rockers on etc. If all goes well, I'll be starting the engine up this weekend. Carbs have been cleaned, didn't strip them completely but opened up the tops and cleaned out all the dead fuel that was in there![]()
I've found a guy who does sandblasting decently, so sent the tins etc to blast. Then having them painted too....
I'll be taking a day or so off work next week sometime, if all goes well WE WILL BE AT THE MINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()

Re: Blitzkrieg's Fastback
I did the work on the engine.
But it wasn't a total strip down and rebuild. Has reconditioned heads, new rings and barrels rehoned. That's all, but has decent compression and runs very strongly
