Morning all, yes it's Saturday so the day for an official update. I popped by with Jessica (3) to just see if everyone was OK still. I'm sure that Jurgen is going to enjoy the break of not having to see me for 10 days and I was over on Wednesday, disturbed him on Thursday and again today :D

So I did take a few picture for you all.....

The engine is looking great and just waiting for us to drop the new "Buggered" gearbox in and the drop her in :D

Image

Then I tried to take a picture of the lines in the paint that we need to fix. Not sure if you can see but it's really weird as you think they are scratches but when you rub with your fingers the paint is super smooth

Image

And then a picture of Rosie from the distance and she does look great. :hangloose: I can't wait until we start to reassemble after we fix the paint. Time is against us but I'm sure it will all work out. :drunks: :zhelp:

It's going to be better Dsan.....looks great from a little distance and not good enough close up

Esme, On thing I noticed is that Paul had not put the new pins in the door hinges as he said. Do you still have them and if so, is Jurgen OK to fit them after Rosie comes back?

Chris, that motor is the one you supplied which has been stripped, ground, new bearings, rings, seals, inlet and pre heater pipes cut, cleared and rewelded, etc and then rebuild with new distributor, coil, exhaust, plugs, leads, heater exchangers and more :hangloose: We are stilling a few issues with the carb at the moment....it's totally blocked and not sure if we can fix. I don't think she was a runner but I think she will be very sweet when finished!

But she's staying as a 1600 TP, decided not to do more otherwise I really have to do brakes and then I'm removing too far from original. The 1200 is also progressing but stuck on a few original parts but that's a second priority as this motor will be the one fitted for day 1 :D

Polar Silver just looks right on a beetle. Even though it's not perfect ( I see what you mean about the lines on zooming into the closeup pic), still looks damn nice from JHB :-)

Also love the look of that exhaust, almost as if it wont clear the engine tin and rear valance  , pity all the pretty bends have to be hidden.

hi dutch
looking good. those lines looks like its from the production paper. needs to be flattened with finner grade paper.
r u putting in some bling or colour on the tin of the engine. same colour as body will look nice.

Hadn't thought about any other colour on the tins except black. Jurgen has painted and already reassembled so it's black then

Nice work Double D! I'm personally not a fan of stock restorations, but yours is a different story :)
