DAMMIT! This bloody wiring is a total balls up!.. But considering the car is pretty much working, I don't have the balls to rip it out and put in a proper harness. Been struggling with the Idiot lights.. Why the F%#K can't you simply earth them and they work!!! Ohhh noooo, it's part of the circuit, and needs a different bloody "earth", which I discovered by accident in this mess.. WTF!!!

Anyway, I think the Dash is all finished and working. Time will tell on the Speedo and Fuel gauge tho.

lol, well done Alan
Wiring never looks like a massive job, but it takes ages to do right...

if you take the wire from the gauge to the fuel tank and ground it directly, the gauge should move to full - if it does, the gauge is working (your sender might still be faulty, that you'll know once you use the fuel)

Battery flat now, so enough for tonight. Just so frikkin MESSY.. And NO space to work..
The gauge wants the fuel signal from sender on (-), other side standard (+), and the gauge earthed, and the needle is somewhere around half?? Which could be right. If I don't earth the gauge,. it's MAX FULL, which doesn't seem right. So I think it's ok.. I'm gonna buy a new Sender unit sometime, but for now, I think it's right. Now just trying to get the gauge lighting to work, and to fit them in, and rte-bolt up the steering column.. urgh..

The car will tell you what he/she is........

however sex changes are possible. My last split crewcab went from a guy to a girl.

My speedy is deff a woman though..............the lines the curves, the bulges........."wait, that could be a he-she as well".

Quick bit of info on the sender unit. The 912 uses a tube style sender unit that looks a lot like one off a type 3. I have atype 3 one in mine and it doesn't work as it should. If you can get the beetle style sender to work with the 912 gauge, then please let everybody know.

Sweet...

I'm into the last lap of this race.. FINALLY got the gauges stable, insulated, wired, and for now, working. So finished the dash, including the trim and script.

My Aim dash looks like this..

Hey Wernher,

Thanks buddy. Not really TOLD Frans, suggested. In my 356 Book on restoring Porsche Speedsters, all the dash-boards I can see have the tach as the Center gauge, and COMBO gauge towards the inner of the car. Frans's was different, so I thought if he's wanting authentic, this is how they should go. I however might be terribly mistaken and will certainly announce this if I'm wrong.

What's your opinion based on what you've seen Werner? Was there a definite sequence of how they were fitted, or did people do their own thing?

Am glad as hell tho it's all finished and working for now. Need to find carpet guy.. battling to find someone down here to help with this.
