As has already been pointed out, that bus started its life as a Brasilia panelvan (fugly bay-split hybrid sold by VWSA from 1976-1978). So it's not a 73. It is a 76-78. Post the VIN here and I'll confirm year model.

Although this bus has baywindow front bodywork, mechanically it is basically a split, with K&L pin front suspension, so baywindow parts will not fit.

i have to agree with fig...it was definately a panel van first. the bumpers indicate 76 fleetline as does the rear hatch and engine lid. I assume the cargo doors are an after thought as all my years trading in vw`s i`ve never seen this as an original job on a panel van but hey those " brasilias" " fleetlines" are quite weird and vw did have a habit of using up old stock so....someone please decipher the fleetline m-codes
