Why you selling him? and wheres the pix from that "Thing" you did in march? where did you get the new gearleaver from? and how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking.. Your sound setup rocks. But tell me, the front staging...is it disturbed, by your legs while driving? i was thinking about the same stage,or doors, which is better? what splits are those?

Let's take it step by step:
I'm selling him to make way for a new project.

The gearlever I got from Volkspares (took the one off their display above the counter) if I remember right, I paid R750 for the gearlever.

The sound stage was quite good. The splits were a set of Pegasus 6½" units I had lying around in the shop.
The secret to decent staging is to get speakers where the tweeters have an excellent off axis response and intigrate properly with the mids (Mount them either within 15 cm from the mids for proper intigration or at least 75 cm from the mids for good staging)

Try to keep the listening path (distance from the left and right speakers to your ears) to within 75% of each other for best results. With speakers in the Beetle doors, the left speaker is about 4 times further than the right hand side and gives you a right hand biased sound stage

Oh ja and finally the "thing" in March was when Andre got married and his wife to be insisted that I could not give the car to the new owner before her wedding as she wanted to use it for her "Bridal chariot"

Yup, the car is in other hands now. I was sold to a guy in high school.

I offered to take care of the maintenance of the car.
So far I have replaced the engine with a recon sub and the car is with me this morning for the first warranty service and oil change.

It just burns my arse to see the car dirty, full of cold drink tins and scratches on the paint where his dog jumped on the car.

I'll keep my hand on the car and when the time is right, buy it back again.....

Of the info; not the car

Since I bought Petrus back from the numbnuts that I sold him to, I decided to treat him to a few niceties, just to make up for the trauma of having to spend a year with a cruel, uncaring youngster.

The NrX seats were ditched in favour of a pair of Corsa Gamma seats (they could not handle the amourous attempts of a hormone laden matriculant)



Then, I fitted the rear discs.


Having sold the previous sound install, I started on a new install.
This is the new kickpanels.


And for a bit of luxury, and some Cars in the Park swank, I added electric windows.

how did you mount the kick panel onto the body?

I really like the electric windows! I think I should get me some for the Razor... it was in my original plan, but now that I see how easy it is, it's back to the top of the list...

If you go that route, make sure that you get the Spal De Luxe kit. The mechanism is lank strong and you can get spares - not like that cheap and nasty advertised in SnS
