if your pulley is tight and you can see movement when pushing/pulling it, then the engine needs to come out.
If the flywheel is tight, then the engine is worn and needs rebuilding.
The endplay spec for the crank (thats the movement of the pulley you see) is 0.07mm to 0.13mm - needless to say, if you can visually see the pulley move, then its well beyond spec and needs rebuilding.

i have checked for noises coming from the fan housing,but nothing ....the fact that there is a slight noise coming from the gen pulley,when i spin it, makes sense......but the noise is quite irritatingly loud when the motor runs

It will be easy to find, take a long screw driver, and hold it to the block near the big pulley, and listen for noise, then do the same on the genny near the small pulley, and listen, the one that's much more noisy is normally the problem one.

thanks for your patience an advice. please note that i have no mechanical background and everything i know about getting my bug back on the road was via YouTube.
anyways,i found a solution in sorting out that irritating pulley noise....i got rid of the buggy!!!

just kidding.....i found that my bug was idling very low so much so that my exhausts were vibrating....after i adjusted my idling,the noise subsided as well....my bug is idling at an acceptable level and that pulley noise is gone....i still hear a faint squeaking sound coming from the top pulley,but i think that is the bearing.

does all of that make sense?
