Didn't take pics of that one Hennels. Is a friend of mine that he bought for his 17 year old daughter. Did the rear main seal for him and few bits and pieces to get it through road worthy. Passed and his daughter is very happy with it. They stay in Paarl. Red with white/cream two tone :-)

Hello Slak, the engine parts are obv easy to find being a beetle motor, suspension and breakesis golf/passat. the body parts are readily available from Brazil. :-) Car in for tuning now, hopefully get back by tommorow.
We sell trailer parts in Stikland, Cape Town( Supreme Truck & Trailer). Trailer-building, Repairs and maintenance is done by a client of ours (TFC).

You Cape town boys and Slicks. When I bought my race car in cape town it also had massive slicks on it (Think 10J on the rear). In GP most of the cars are on Semi's and you can at least drive them on the road. Seems to be a completely different mind set in the cape...

But looking good so far...

Even though T3 cooling is less efficient than T1, one would think that with the orientation of the engine in the engine compartment, it would almost be more logical to fit T3 cooling rather than T1, if the original is not available... comment?

Is the T3 like the original fan housing? Will upgrade later to the one that Flat 4 is selling (+- 70 % better cooling or something like that). I just found it easier to fit this one with the twin carbs setup, had it on a 60km trip and it stayd nice and cool.
Lol and the slics are just so much cheaper here than semi's JamesD, and I don't usually drive my cars to track days. Load them on trailer :-)

No it's not. It is known as the pancake engine and the fan is driven by the crankshaft. It has an air intake trunk which in your case would face to the front where you could make a scoop (or air inlet plenum) behind your grill that would force cool the engine very well while you are in motion. You would also not need the air separation plates you currently need to stop hot air re-circulation, making access for maintenance even easier than you say it is now.

The T4 cooling is like a hybrid between the T3 and T1 cooling arrangements, with a crankshaft driven fan but with the requirement for separation plates. For type 1 and 4 engines the air space above the engine and separation tinware is the inlet plenum, and by definition, a low pressure area from which your carbs take suction. In the case of the T3 arrangement, the carbs take suction from the airspace surrounding the engine which is not depressurized by the suction of the fan. I don't know how much difference it makes, but you're a racing driver so you would want every ounce of air you can get, both for cooling and for combustion. To get that, you should separate the air supplies, I would think.
