Thats the spirit, two tone wheels, lots of chrome accessories, and how about a cream coloured ragtop for that two-tone effect

Steering dampers were only introduced around 61. To liven up your ride I would leave the paint as is but fit all the chrome finishes, will make a huge diff.

You may be right, my book notes that they were installed from 56 in USA, but no matter, as the steering rods had the rubber bushes in the mount hole, and the cut off bits were on the beam, and the car was very "Skittich" on the road, I wanted to fit the damper for Safety, as I think that I would rather have a damper to preserve the 59 for prosperity then to have a photo of a crashed 59, without a damper, for prosperity.
Have reworked some Rostyles in silver, will see how that looks, then maybe replace the black roof lining with a ivory roof LINER. See how that looks,
And then............................................

Spent the day removing the back drums, replacing bearings, and oil seals, lifted the rear by one spline.
Also fixed hand brake and fitted split pins into the seat rests shafts.
Installed new rear gearbox mounts.
Also fitted the new reworked Rostyles , just waiting for the centre caps.
Already an improvement in the general look of the car.
Not so much a Adams family car look.
Still have to make a tank lever for the inside of the car, maybe next week........................................

Did nothing on Beetle59 this weekend as I took the kids for a brilliant road trip to Cape Town this weekend.
No it was not in an Aircooled, as I do not have one running at this moment.
It was with the Audi.
Went to meet some good people, in Cape Town, did a turn by Grand Slam, made new friends, it was excellent.
Will be putting the Beetle back together this next week, and have her running, with her new look, can't wait.......
Then its off to RW and having her put on my name.
But before that........on the road.........for a test.........
.
.
The anticipation, of that 1st drive,
.
.
.is like being 16 again on a 1st date.....
.
.
Hope it ends well.......

Spent the weekend doing the last of the jobs on my to do list....
Now running like a dream....
Still have to do small jobs, like wiper rubbers on inside of door, fix door clips for door cards, see why it rattles inside the doors, think that all is fixed with one screw again.........

.
Will be taking photo's later and posting here.........

Finally have the Beetle running like a dream.........................
New motor is in, with new exhaust, sounds goooooood.....
Tuned the motor, set the Dwell time, and the timing, replaced all the tins, set the rubbers around the motor, and fixed the tension on the belt.
Only thing that I still want to do, is take the door cards off, and reset, re-fix and dampen the parts within the doors, as this is the only place that still has rattles.
Here is a more cheerful looking 59 Beetle.
Now I have to take her for RWC, and onto my Name......
What you guys think ?????????

Looks nice! Glad to hear that you have already worked through most of your "to do" list, (that was fast!), and it's now running well!

Its a matter of taste but I think it looked better with black rims and hupcaps.

To each his own, but I also loved the black wheels.
IMHO, what this car needs, is a standard type cream/off-white steel wheel with a wide white wall tyre, and chrome hubcaps. This will look fantastic.
VERY well done though on getting it all sorted so quickly though.

Now you talking...........
These wheels are for the Fastback, only fitted them here to lighten up this car............
But as you said,

this will be getting Ivory steel rim's,

with wide white walls,

and chrome caps...........
Then I get my local sweat shop to change the black roof lining to Ivory to match the wheels.
Not sure if I should have a pin strip in ivory where the chrome beading was, ???????/
What you think ????
