I also heard from a rallyist today that one must be wary of Ferrodo pads as they tend to "melt" onto the disc when they get hot. Even braking from 140 to 60 in a short space of time causes the problem. And I thought they were supposed to be the best.

If I remember correctly, the red stuff isnt too great until they get to temp, with the green stuff being better for a street application

OOPS! I see you mentioned earlier I can have the caliper overhauled. Who can do this?

The problem with Ferodo is that it has metal particles,that is why it melts.Other makes use asbestos fibre,and some is just plain rubbish.
Mintex and ATE is the best you can buy,when it comes to good brake pads.
Then you get the dust free stuff.And then comes racing pads.
Red stuff is very nice brakepads,but you do get way more expensive pads,but if you don't race around a track,don't bother,they don't last as long.and you don't need it in normal day to day driving.

a proper brake place will prob be able to do it for you. But then again, those calipers are cheap, so its prob about the same price to buy them new
