Re: 67 Panelvan
Hey buddy,
Mine's basically all but completed, and the idea is to do a small one night at the Berg River Resort in the next few weeks with Branden and his missus and their Bus. Is yours campable, so to speak? Would you be keen?

Re: 67 Panelvan
Did a trip to Cape Agulhas this weekend. Drove through the Saturday morning and came back the Sunday afternoon. The wind going up Sir Lowrys pass was insane. Luckily there was not much other cars on the road, and it was just that first stretch going up that we were crawling. After that it was a smooth drive all the way. There is also a very nice scenic road between Gansbaai and Bredasdorp. We camped over at Struisbaai, not much going on except the wind. I worked out the fuel consumption and got 12km/l, driving back we went through Bredasdorp - Napier - Caledon with the wind behind us. Re: 67 Panelvan
Headlight adjustment question,
I'm trying to adjust my headlights seeing that they are everywhere except the road. I bought hella daymakers to replace the round bulbs I had.
I need to take the one light out as the adjustment screws aren't working. I was able to set the other side. The instructions for the kombi I have is.
Set lights on high beam/brights
Measure from ground to center of the light(mine is 64cm)
Park vehicle 25feet away from vertical wall, level ground
Mark the centre of the headlights on wall as measured above.
The distance between the two headlights on the wall should be 1meter.
Make a line 5cm underneath the 64cm as measured above. This line should then be the one to adjust to.
Now the light I got right on the spot with the brights shines way high if I just select normal beams. Is this normal, or am I missing a step ?

Re: 67 Panelvan
Do you have two of the same side reflectors, as It would seem you one glob is upside down.
Make sure the globe top is to the top, or make sure you have the wires to the right point on the globe.
The un-shielded filament is the bright, and the one behind the small square cup inside is the dim.

Re: 67 Panelvan
Just to clarify is left side looking from the front or from the back of the kombi? I have 7 light units and they all have 'left' written on them
So if the globe is installed and looking from the side of the kombi this is the correct way up so that the dims reflect down?

Re: 67 Panelvan
Looks like you got a globe with the wrong type of base.
The correct type is called "P45T" and is commonly available.
See picture, left one is correct.

Seems that your adjustment procedure is for USA-style sealed beams.
Only use dimms when adjusting. Lift/remove the fuse for the left side while adjusting the right, and vice versa.
Think common sense... You should see a sharply cut off line. With vehicle on a perfectly flat surface, this line should always shine more downwards the further you move away from the vehicle. It should not shine towards the right. Most important to make sure it does not shine into oncoming traffic.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

Re: 67 Panelvan
On dimms, the little "bucket" inside globe screens lower half of "dimm-filament".
Light then only illuminates upper half of reflector, which reflects it downwards.
