Re: 1963 - "Blue Bird" Beetle - WARNING LOTS OF PICS!
So it's saturday again and I've been to visit!
Need to change the name now...."Blue Bird" is no longer appropriate.....so after much thought and after names like Bobbie Beetle to continue the BB to GB for Gold Beetle (misses says the colour isn't anywhere near silver!) and Bridgette which I like but Mrs Dutch doesn.t, her new name is........ ??????? (suggestions please that make sense)!
So no longer will I keep you in suspense.....here's the 1600 TP engine all new!

And here after the paint is "BB".

I'm very happy with the result of the paint and the colour is great, different to what I expected but I love it! Upholstered thinks he'll be able to do some work next week to put a new headliner in and start on the seats I hope. Jurgen needs that done before we can put in the glass. There's still a lot of work to do but now at least it's putting her all back together, replacing worn or broken bits and giving everything a full breakdown, overhaul and rebuild to as good as new.
The webers are delivered and Jurgen's agreed to figure out how to fit, I'm looking for a sports exhaust without all the noise so suggestions welcome please...I want a fast beetle not a loud one!

Oh and I forgot to mentione, she hasn't been polished yet so that paints going to look even better! They didn't want to polish yet as they want to put together, find any blemishes, which can still be treated and then polish as then that's it....you can't fix anything after that. I can't imagine her being much shinner.

Nice work dude! What wheels are you planning to go with?

Standard for now as I can't source what I really like (fuchs) and I'm not willing to pay the shipping.
The wheels will be off as soon as we get the car onto a lift and then back to the spraypainters for the original Polar Silver and Pearl white hubs! Going to look the dogs!

Re: 1963 - "Blue Bird" Beetle - WARNING LOTS OF PICS!
hi dutch
bb is looking sweeeeeet. just a sugestion for your headliner if u are picky on the look and finish.u can buy the fabric (the ones with holes) as close to the original but u will not find the same material in solid (without the holes for the b-pilars). this combo looks great. empi sells them pre-cut in a kit with the roof (holed) and b-pillars (solid). all u need is ur roof wire. im glad i went that route as the local ones look dull and havn them all with the holes looks a bit busy. i got mine from dave rowley but u can also try callooker.

Farhaad,
I've managed to source the original VW material for the roof lining!
as well as the vinyl for the seats!
