Looking good RA! I love the red paint.

How much have you spent on sound deadening material and which brand did you go for?

I've started vibration proofing the floor (Flashband it is) and popped past Sondor to collect some high density foam for the firewall and rear section. At R89 for a 2 x 1 m sheet, i dont really care if it doesn't work
Bought the stuff locally and it makes a huge difference. so it's flash band first, about a 10mm high density foam, standard underfelt on the floors and carpet on top.

Thanks Dutch...appreciate the sentiment!

Still more to be done though. Have to have the roll bar bent up at Dave's and then have headrest made to fit on the roll bar. Need to confirm though, but Dave reckons they might not roadworthy without it. Steering still needs to be sorted and i need to finish up the soft top ect. engine tin, some wiring and my worst fears were realized today. The left front sticks out just too much under the wheel arch and touched up on the bodywork. Will have to persuade a friend to part with his set of 356 rims now :)

Those wheels are cool, can't you just cut the beam down a little?

Ok, have a problem with wheels for this lady, but have a cunning plan.........perhaps try standard wheels on the front. If anyone has 2 standard beetle rims they'd like to throw away (get rid of), please let me know. Also, whats the lowest profile i can go on standard rims....i'll need to match it with the back as best i can to look reasonably respectable. Or move my current front to back and fit new front......son of a building block.....either way, wanna test some stock rims!

AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I know what you're on about there. My missus is the same at the moment, just found out that we're expecting #2 in about 7 months. So the plans to build the second story will have to be advanced somewhat and it's eating into my speedster time.

Work on the speedy is picking up now. About to place an order to real porcshe bumper and sill trim as well as the dash grab handle and the licence plate light. I just can't get anything locally that looks even remotely right.

Congrats dude!!! Great news!! Fear not, i suspect my wife has similar plans for the near future...i'll get the memo nearer the time i'm sure. i'm busy with Cameron's new bedroom, so suspect she has plans to fill her old one :) Good to hear you're getting going on the Speedy....i'll get there soon enough. Still needing to find some rims to test up front, other than that though, still chilling.

R.A.

Why don't you just have someone machine the centers of the front wheels out and then move the centers about 1 cm to the outside of the rim and reweld it in place.

That way, you keep the same tyres and trim rings, and clear the fenders without touching the beams on the inside at full lock.
