If he did the transfer of ownership, you wont be getting a new licence disc. You need to get a rwc first.

Thanks guys. 1972 the ones in Ron's car are 911 seats, they are more bucket like and are electric. And very hard to find
I'll get a Porsche steering wheel one day, for now my Wolfsburg GTI steering wheel will have to do :)

Can you post a pic of that steering wheel please as I am not at all happy with the one in the Ghia. It's KAK!!

I would have preferred the old manual seats. Those electric ones are heavy and unnecessarily complicated... But, you gotta piss with the cock you got, you know?

Which steering wheel? The GTI or Porsche one? Hey if you don't like those seats, i'd be happy to take them off your hands

Why did I know you would say that... Too late, mate, I'm used to them now, and I doubt if that 2.4 turbo is going to feel the difference in weight...

Well, both, if you've got two that would look nice in the Razor. I am shopping for a decent steering wheel. Thanks.

With the public holiday yesterday, managed to get some work done :hangloose:

Finally managed to drill out the fan bolts and remove the fan and shroud. As of yesterday, I have a piece of magnesium/aluminium (whatever the fan is made off) lodged in my cheek. Don't ask me how it got there

As you can see, the engine is in some serious need of cleaning

Image

I also cut up an old Type 3 speedometer for the speedo housing - The Porsche speedo casing slips nicely into the ring that I made using the old Type 3 casing and fits snugly into the dashboard - Amazingly the cable fits perfectly onto the Porsche speedo

The only part that's irritating me with the speedo is the domed glass. Sometime in the future I'd like to convert it to flat glass...

Image

I've also discovered a cool trick to remove the paint from the inside of the Type 3 lenses. I have two lenses that are uncracked, but faded.

My intention is to have them sprayed full red, using the Tamiya Clear Red (x37) paint. If anyone knows where I can get two cans of the stuff at a good price, I'd very much appreciate it :hangloose:

I love the look of the full red lenses

Image

I will be sitting and cleaning the engine throughly this weekend. I think that I will also replace the pushrod seals and put the heads back on. Hopefully I can start the engine sometime soon!!

To be continued...

That dash is not mine, just used the picture to show what the gauge with a flat glass looks like. I do have the same speedometer though...
