Re: My Lowlight SC
Chris, You should try and keep your revs at 3500.
This = more air flowing over the motor.
Your box is in a lower ratio = motor not labouring.
If you are riding the motor at low revs, the spark is "donnering" the top of the piston and it has nowwhere to go as your gearbox is in a high ratio. Something has to give. Either the motor or the gearbox.
The Beetle motor can take a lot of abuse. All the cooling rules only really come into play when you running in the namib desert with your foot flat.

Re: My Lowlight SC
Thanks Tom.
Edmond,I phoned those guys, but they are pretty useless at giving me info. They say I must order and then he'll check. But how do I order if I don't know what I'm suppose to order.
I then found these guys : http://www.kartworld.co.za/wcontact.php .They gave me a price and the right gauge and it is about R300 cheaper than the one Comet has,and it comes complete with the right probe.

Re: My Lowlight SC
How much did they quote you for the CHT gauge as im interested in getting one to for my new 1600 motor
I think your previpus motors seized from detonation as Tom suggested this is a beetle motors worst enemy and its brought on by overheating according to the Tom Wilson engine rebuild book

It's going, but developed a oil leak somewhere. At least it's not over heating anymore and I'm gaining confidence that it will last.

Re: My Lowlight SC
Not bad.I reckon about 8-9km/l.
I'm not going over 3500r/min and the fastest I have gone is about 95km/h.It goes the same with or without a load.
