No doubt autostyle is the market leader, and yeah i forgot to mention they do give you a discount. Its just a matter of shopping around I guess.

So who can give me any and every insight to my engine? What carb? What needs to be done? Anything worrying? Anything special etc...

Depends on how it's running... and what you want it to look like and run like. For starters, get rid of that kak air cleaner. It doesn't work. Stat. Go back to the oil bath cleaner, or get a descent K&N air cleaner and air cleaner oil and oil it. (and even then, stay off the dirt roads, Well, a bit...)

Next, sort out your crank case breather. First of all, check that the filler and breather is clean, and yes, it is a very kak job to get it off. But if it is all clogged up with dirt and grey sludge, you'll pressurise your crank case and force oil out of the centrifugal seal on the alternator pulley and oil will spray everywhere. Then you need to decide where to route the blow-by gases, and the best is into the oil bath air cleaner, where it is supposed to go. Otherwise, put a hose on it and feed the hose down underneath the car where you can blow oil onto the road, just that little extra you can do to keep the motorcyclists alert... After that, apply liberal amounts of engine cleaner, and then you've got a start towards a lekka engine already.

Have fun...

Hi,

Looks like it's all there. Check underneath, there should be tin covering your push rod tubes too. The oil bath air filter looks like a ...erm.... ahhhh .... ermmmm... f... well, a cylindrical oil bath with a lid on which clips on not unlike the distributor cap and it has a funnel on the side where the air is sucked in. There's a newer version which is plastic, I don't know if that's oil bath or paper filter.

dude yr car is coming on nicely! all u missing is the t-bars. Ill try get a price for the steel today--maybe i can part with my old ones
how much longer u recon u gonna be? i gotta guy coming to give me a hand at the end of the month...speed things up a bit.
HOPEFULLy my cabbie is goin by new years.

who did the paint job-its really nice. my first beetle was suppose to look "sumthing" simillar...but ja, came out a flop.
ive got a pan cake filter on my old car...ill take a pic and post it, just an idea to make it look better, and it looks better.
my yellow one is getting a custom made intake with a cone filter.

and that thing soeone said, bout if the crank breather is blocked that oil pisses out(actually where-ever it can get out) IS SO TRUE.
happened to my old car...the crank breather pipe kinked, and on a warm summers morning on my way to do some bass fishing....
i got this whiff of something burning-like burning oil.....my mate tapped me on the shoulder and pointed back---the car was filling up with smoke.
after opening the engine lid...there was oil all over. and when oil burns on to the crank case...gone is the nice clean alluminium look

this is what i did with my pan-cake filter...wrapped a thin stainless mesh around....looks cool and catches a bit a of the crap too(doesnt restrict air tho)
and i put a small half inch elbow directly in the centre of the top of the filter...that way the crank pressure is quickly/easily sucked away
anyway..this is only my "work and back" cabbie
