Wacth out for metal that stretch oud when using a grinder to remove the paint.

the car is aircooled and that vent directs air directly to the fan. Plus the size of it reduces any resistance to flow by having vents that are too small.

The extra vents on the boot lid were added to aid cooling

would it help if i use standoffs on the decklid to let the air back in???

yea, standoffs will help a lot, especially if you have sealed the vents.
