Sorry for the hijack, what did you use to clean the tank?

I first just gave it a good shake. That helped get the majority out. I then took some petrol and rinsed it a few times. I also threw some stones in to break it all up. I'm far from done and only did it late yesterday. I left the tank over night with some petrol to see if it will help dissolve the rest. Not sure if it did, cause I haven't looked at it yet.
The best to really clean it and probably what I will also do, is to let a radiator shop flush it. I did that on my Beetle and they did a great job.
I'll keep you posted. Maybe someone here have some ideas too.

Just cleaning the tank will not stop the corrosion.

you need to clean it, then neutrals it, then coat it, or it will be the same in a few weeks.

I build this pretty simple "roll on it's side" frame for the bus today. This should make life easier to work underneath the car. I'll know tomorrow how well it works.

Please do let us know... That's almost exactly what I've been toying with for mine.

I like the simplicity of this construction. The 2 "nearside" castors are going to take quite a bit of weight once you start tipping the bus, do you think they can handle it? It might perhaps want to "slide" or slip away at this point, they don't look like they have brakes. Some wooden blocks or similar might be an idea so that when you start tipping, the frame (and weight) immediately comes to rest on these blocks or chocks ?

I think Paul has made the correct call.
Love the simplicity of it, but....
Think you need to fit a sharp "drop Pin" on the 1st corner, that can be locked in place, that you can set to bite into the ground when rolling.
Then lift it out when you have polled it back on the castors. for wheeling about.

Use some conveyor belting when tilting it on its side,I would say turning it over might be OK but when you tilt it back on its wheels is going to be more challenging as when it gets passed the pivot point it is going to land very hard unless you have some sort of a anchor point that you can control the lowering of it .

Thanks for the advice guys. I know this is not the ideal "rotisserie" , but I needed something simple and quick. I won't be tilting it over that often, well hopefully only once I'll use all your advice today and let you know how it went.

I think what Herman says makes sence, you need to either lock the wheels ( if they can handle the weight, remember the weight will shift to the side walls of the casters thus putting pressure on the bearings and centre bolt at an angle not designed for) or take pressure off it alltogether with the popout stands once you start rotating.
When rotating get someone to pull on some nilon straps from the top of the rig whilst you roll it over, for a smooth roll.
I would go one further and complete the the entire frame somewhat resembling an octagan similar to Buggers.

Just like you guys I had my concerns as well. I used some bricks as stoppers and tires to break the fall if necessary. Only needed 3 people to turn it and to my surprise it went smooth and effortless. I think I got lucky on the length of the kink on the frame. It worked perfect and in my opinion very little stress on the wheels. I would not do it any different if I had to do it again.

No I did not, but the guy that bought both my busses could of sold it . He had this soppy story of how he was buying it for his son for when he gets older. I had someone call and tell me soon after the sale that my split bus is for sale again for 5 times the price of course. So basically he bought my busses to make money. But hey, each for himself. At least I was honest with my sale.
