After browsing through a few chassis pics looking for inspiration, I've decided against colouring the block and gearbox.
The chassis will be matt black with detailing, and the gearbox and block will get a nice polish.
There will be raw polished metal and black detailing elsewhere.
Mr. Calooker...we can start putting the growler together.

Progress!
I've removed the body...muahahahaha!

Plans are changing slightly with regards to parts chosen, etc. and the final outlook has been changed.
We're going for a driveable car with a clean, mod'd underneath, and will be keep my next bag of tricks for 3/4 years time when cashflow improves.
Drive now, show later.
Parts orders' are all over the place, and the engine is currently being clearanced for the larger crank.
We've discovered faults with the front beam...a crack/broken weld, and a missing adjuster, missings odds and ends, and very slight damage in one section of the pan, and the right quarter panel from an old accident. Nothing fatal.
Now we start with the clean-up...sourcing parts, brake system, sandblasting/painting, the IRS conversion, and I'm sorting out my new rims as I write this.

Yah, so Blitzkrieg and Bossie wanted an update, here's a short one...
Pics when I find them.
...and get the rest off of the phone.
The pan has been completely stripped, and the IRS conversion *may* start this week.
The front beam is currently on it's way to CT for a custom adjuster job, new balljoints, and will then head back with my Serpentine belt system for the new Stroker engine.
We've decided against the Brasilia gearbox in lieu of building a stronger, custom gearbox converted to IRS.
The last sideplate is on it's way along with the dropped sway bars.
A Super Diff is going with new spider gears, custom gear ratios (to be decided), and possibly a urethane mainshaft.
I've bought some goodies for the standoffs, and the engine block has been clearanced and the engine will be mocked up in the next week or two.
We found some problems with the rear calipers and I may need to replace them. The po[es] did a hack job and fitted them rather cheaply and dangerously.
The tyres need to be changed to return the profile to stock size...Michelin or Yokohamas.
The EMPI 8s are staying for now.
The body is on blocks under cover. Bodywork and the rest won't start for atleast 2/3 years.
All sound-deadening material has been stripped and I am now on the hunt for a decent replacement to cover the pan and rear firewall/dogbox with, as the engine bay material is also being removed.
Shifting will be provided courteousy of my new Hurst shifter, and urethane coupler.
All bushings/rubbers are genuine VW, with suspension parts being reinforced urethane.
Front shocks will be low-gas KYBs with oil in the back, to provide a nice, well-behaved ride.
We're hoping to have a running car before year-end.

For Blitz' who wanted a current - unchanged - look.
...and for Chris to show off his lead. Shot matey.

...and in other news, the engine is half-subassembly-complete, the pans...Eish!...and the parts? All here 'cept for a F/u on CBs side which we're still trying to correct/investigate.
The front suspension (balljoints, custom adjusters, welding, 'coating) is done, and the Serpentine is done...both on their way up from CT next week.
Hoping to send the nuts and bolts in for 'plating soon.
Cheers, N.

Roofrack looks badass, but the car doesn't suit it...won't be able to do my colour scheme and detailing idea for atleast 3 years.
The way things are progressing, it's half-dead.

Thanks Vader.
Indeed Chris...I haven't cleaned it yet, but with the exception of a few spots, its OG paint is still bludy brilliant.
