Re: Project Variant has began
My son has plans for her since it's "his" car. I want to restore as original as possible. He wanted to drop the chassis and put air suspension in (until i showed him the price of those kits), new VW rims, I see Volkspares advertised some Raider wheels in the S&S mag in January. But for now, both of us just want to get the motor running and I'll be going to Kaya Sands this weekend looking for body parts. There will definitely be a respray involved. The upholstery is still pretty good but needs some attention. The top part of the dash has to be redone. (there is no bottom part). The wiring is a mess. We plan to start our project this weekend. Probably start with the engine.

Just do air! There is no better feeling than making that car scrape frameStephanus wrote:My son has plans for her since it's "his" car. I want to restore as original as possible. What colour you planing to spray her?
Are you going to replace the engine or do a recon?
I agree with Blitzkrieg, Air would be awesome!, I also want to do it, but its costly!!!

Re: Project Variant has began
I am planning to recon the engine. First time I'll attempt something like this. I found out in the meantime (from the registration docs, and it's confusing to a layman ) the first date it was liable for Registration was January 1967 but the Vin number starts with 369 which means it is a 3(type)69(model). Now to buy engine parts - is it crucial, whether or not, it's a '67 or a '69? I'd appreciate feedback if you know about this stuff.

Congrats, lovely car. Good luck with the project.Biggie19 wrote:I Finally got my Variant square back!!!, cant wait to get started!
Squareback (a nickname) is a hyponym of Variant. It's like saying "My car is crimson red."
