uhh, that bmw 700 replica is my dads We built it a while ago. The Jeep too, all our cars that we have built up previously. Quite odd to see it here We didnt even know it was on the forum!!

Why don't you post the pics of your buggy build on the forum, so the guys can see how it should be done. Also please post the before and after pics of the BMW's suspension parts. It really deserves to be shared.

Your dad sent me some pics of your buggy build, along with the pics of the Anglia and Escort and I was totally blown away

Uhh, Im trying to get my dad to e-mail me a few nice pics, I want to make a thread with all the cars we have built in it. Actually went for a breakfast run this morning with the buggy and the bmw through joburg.. Was really really good to drive her again. pulling better and better everytine by the way, do you have a thread with pics of your cars?

Haha, @ EtienneB, you have NO idea how difficult it was to try find information on this car when we were building it. Any bmw you phone has no record of the car and everyone thinks you are talking crap! their immediate reply is

"huh? you mean 7 series?"

It's a cute looking car. But that red one in the first post reminds me of the BMW 1800 SA and 2002 SA that were marketed here in the late 60s. They were originally a company called Glas; BMW bought it out and shipped the assembly out here. The 700 seems to have some similar design cues, or is it my imagination. Hmmm, now let's see whether the picture has attached itself ...

We had one of these, a 2000 SA! It was the first car my dad bought new, out the box, in '73.
My dad wasn't too impressed when a couple of weeks later it was updated to the 2004 SA, and then shortly afterwards to the first of the 520's.

Sorry for the bump, just wanted to share a few pics of the build of this little 700.





This was how we got her, she had no motor or box only suspension. We got a second one too, which was fairly complete but a less desirable body shape.

Interesting. Is the alternator integrated into the cooling fan assembly?

Seems that lots of effort and perfection went into that restoration.

Nice picture of the small rear-engined cars. Others looks like a Hillman Imp and Fiat.

yeah both the Imp and the 500 abarth race at zwartkops in the historics series. I will have to check if the altenator is in fact integrated into the cooling fan assembly.. this car was built close to 3 or 4 yars back.

I recently bought a 1964 BMW 700 LS Luxus. It needs a lot of work to get back to original shape, so I am looking for parts. IT was originally baby blue, but sprayed red in the late 80's. A very neat conversion was done to a 1.4 Alfasud boxer engine with radiator in front. Now busy with getting it back on the road and registered. Next step is to find the original chrome trimmings and bits and bobs that I short. Then I will look for an engine.
I have contacted MANY classic car dealers and restorers, and the amount of info locally available is minimal. Parts can be imported, but obviously hugely expensive.
