The previous owner did such an abortion with the wiring, it is being stripped out and redone. This will include:
  • New Bosch fuse box
  • New wiring all over
  • Semaphores wired up to separate switch
  • rear snowflake lights working as single light/brake and indicator
  • anti-theft breaker unit installed
  • All cable in the bonnet will be neatly channel and housed in aircraft style wiring harnesses
The rear light issue has been a problem. Ideally i wanted both the semaphores and rear indicators/front indicators to all function at once, but that won't happen. This is the best compromise we can come up with.
Heej man, does that guy wants some more bussiness? (Auto eleccy ) Where are they based? Looking for an electrician that can clean up my abortion.. :hangloose:

He's a good find. Older guy who retired from doing airplanes and what not and now has a big workshop at his home to keep himself busy.

Loves older cars and is really anal about wiring and doing it right. He's based in Durban north

Movement on the wiring front.

All the old loom has been removed, as has any other electrical wire found inside of the car. He has rewired the rear snowflake lights so they now function 3 ways and at the same time modified the indicator stalk to activate the semaphores. The interior light is also being sorted, which will make a nice change

Still loads to do, but it's moving at a nice pace.

If I knew i'd share.

He drew up the plans last weekend and did some tinkering and finally came up with an approach that worked. I'll ask him when I next pop round. The nice thing is that he isn't expensive, so could do it for you as you seem to be local

Bah always something to slow the project down. Turns out the previous owner lost the speedo lights for oil/ignition and indicators, so we are now trying to source some in durbs to finish off the wiring.

The rest of the car has been rewired and neatly cabled.

Found the bit I was looking for, ok so it cost 100 bucks but it's needed

Wiring is nearly complete, the new loom has been added, the old loom that runs in the roof has yet to be removed by as it standards right now, the whole car has been rewired and just requires a little work to tidy all the connections up now.

progress...

Light at the end of the tunnel...

Wiring complete, just handed over 5k for the complete rewire and modifications to the rear.
The bonnet area looks amazing now

All wiring was removed and replaced. This included all engine related wiring, so alternator/oil pressure switches now work.

The rear lights now look f**king amazing

Tomorrow we strip and prepare for the re-spray.

Stripping and prep time.

I figured the more I take off, bag and note, the less they can loose/damage whilst getting painted.
Nearly had the front wings off except for 1 bolt that holds the cable pipe that wouldn't budge.

Only 4 sheared bolts during the whole process, which isn't bad.
