Re: 1600 S with Type iv
Hi all, IT Dude or dudet or just plain dud has not come as yet. The crank issue ... the crank does not have any "names" on it it does however have serial numbers... when I am back at home... should be weekend will photo and post on net. As stated earlier, the engine came of a microbus panel van and it has the Type iv motor with Hydrolics C/h and electronic ignition, Has any body wired this into a beetle wiring harness?
Crank came from a different source! The old guy used to run this crank on his beetle in off road races. He has moved up to a 88 mm? says he now is +/- 3000 cc. By my calculations 94/82= 2332cc, 101.6/82= 2659cc, 101.6/88=2854cc, obviously the deck height must relate to ammount of stroke you have added.
If go turbo: then going with 535i throttle;
N/A then with injectors and 40 weber IDAs
Appreciate any info that will/can/must assist.

Oops Bugspray: The fan shroud I will build out of alluminium sheeet porsche type. I would like to know what IMPI charges for Upright shroud. Any ideas.
As for me having done this before? Don't need to reinvent the wheel enough info on hoe to do it on the net and have experience in design and engineering.

Re: 1600 S with Type iv
your calcs are correct, except 82*94 = 2276
Hydraulic tappets will limit the amount of cam you can run, which in a big engine like this will be a pity. Try convert it to solid (more noise but you can run steeper and longer duration cams).
I stand corrected, but IDAs came out in 46s and 48s, not 40s. IDFs def come out in 40.

Re: 1600 S with Type iv
Hi Guys
Just did the suspension: narowed by 2.5 cm either side, lowered 70mm (used and adjuster on the top and rotated the bottom +/- 45 degrees.), fitted ventilated disc brakes with ferguson red calipers, machined rear hubs for disc brak conversion at rear. going to used jetta 4 rear caliper and disc.
Going to use golf 2 Gti master cylinder: does this work? any one????

Re: 1600 S with Type iv
Upgraded my memory card and picturess are on my old m/c. Bloody Cell-C shop: Went back as they got some one day old pictures of my son as well on them. Going to have a fight, I can see it is comming. Rocky Vii is here.
Bought aluminium fan for Porsche Cooling fan. Got an example of an upright shroud (kak fibre glass) conversion for a type iv. Going to make mine out of Aluminium. Bought a 20 Valve alternator (has a lot fins that allow for better cooling and smaller in diameter and rounded which will rstrict lesser air for cooling the engine), also got a multi tooth belt pulley for the crank and on the alternator. going to look and putting a serpentine belt sustem with possibly a golf cam belt tensioner.
Fitted new exhaust on the current motor: freed like 200 % of the engine power, also bloting on a weber 22, 23?26? (cant remember) car: standard motor is going to fly.
