Cool Beetle. I agree, she's too nice to customise; keep her stock!

I used to own a 63 Beetle in that exact colour; one of my favourite 60s Beetle colours.

Just out of curiosity, what is the odometer reading? If I have to judge by the overall condition, I doubt if it has been around the clock once

I agree with some of the other members' advice, store the engine and wheels so you can go back to standard in the future; (I'm willing to bet that it still has the original engine) and fit a nice motor. Chromed 6" wide steel wheels with flat (bus) hubcaps will look killer.

The paint also looks good enough that a proper polish might restore it to its original lustre.

I would tweak the motor ever so slightly maybe to 2275!!! you know a small tweak..heheheh Something on the mild side but with some poke!!! A 125km/h cruiser.... 160 kmph max..... With a KILLER spray job....

I think that's the best idea....restore to 100% original including current engine, but I might get an IMPI or Dave R engine to replace for daily running and put some nicer wheels on....then keep the rest to allow me to put back to total originality.

The motor is an exchange one, replaced in 1994. it's 1200cc which in the last 15 years has only done 4,000km. Total mileage from new is 87,568km.

Dutch, here's what you do. Take her apart, blast the shell down to bare metal, respray it, then you tackle the chassis and give it the same treatment, then build a nice performance motor. If you listen to any of these other guys and just do an engine swop and polish it, by the end of June you will be bored and looking for another project.

I suggest you GIVE IT TO ME. Hehe. Naah man that car is tooo awesome to anything to. Shes a beaut. Do'nt customise her. It wil be a shame to kill a find like that. Congrats.

very nice dutch...keep it stock but with the better mags....maybe like the ones on the black beetle you were interested in?to keep that stock but modified look...and a monster motor to surprise those golfs at the robot...i could do the photoshop render for you just give details of what you want it to look like...

Agree with the others, maybe some classic wheels, RADAR's, BRM's or of course the obligatory FUCHS come to mind.
And why not do the motor, if that is no longer original,then no harm in changing it, OR, and here is a real challenge, find and fit an original Judson supercharger for that 1200, wont make it fast, but DAMN that would be cool...

I still say a milder version of the Force 1917cc set up for a quick cruise, not top end just really torquey motor will be a joy to drive... I know you not really into speed but something that will put a smile on your dial every time you take it out and that yearning to get into it again and go for a spin... Your girls are gonna love it!!! And the missus will love you even more.....
