I have been pouring over 356 interiors... so many choices...

Alan... try Waltex carpets just off Connaught street in Beaconvale / Parow Industria... I think there is another carpet factory there as well just in the previous road.

Ask them for the closest carpet they have to these German Square weave ones in the link attached... They either might have something close to it on a roll, or like I bought - 2 room rugs and used them to cut out from templates for my beetle and had them edged there as well afterwards... Also look for a rug with mostly red, and then beige n salt n pepper in it as well...

some updates. Taking the Red into Peter's Place in Killarney Gardens, getting new King and Link Pins fitted, should help make steering less vague and more steady. Also took Mud's suggestions, went to Waltex with a Belgotex swatch. They had nothing in stock, but ONE big Rub which was as closes as heck to my Swatch, and with a small cut in it, so I bought that for 250 bucks.. Should be enough to do the whole car and hopefully the boot. Just need to get it home now, then pull out all the crappy existing stuff, trace onto the back of the carpet, cut out shapes, get a few of them edged, and then glue back in. Find some nice full length rubber, cut to correct shape, and fit in two footwells, and I'll be sorted with that project.

Then, managed to get hold of the Importer of Tanex Fasteners from Germany, and am meeting him on a business trip next week to collect 30 of them. This will facilitate fitting these to existing mounting points of the old crappy twist fasteners for the roof. Then I'm making a Tan rear cover which closes up the back seat area, and that'll be that. Eventually, I'll probably order a roof from FlatfourFan (GARY) dammit!!! in Pta, but no need for that now.

The Body repaint, I can't seem to get sorted out, at least not without having to spend a "bond" of money.. So that respray will have to wait a while. Another thing I need someone's hel;p with, is to adjust the rear splines a notch to lower the arse. Without the metal Beetle Body, the suspension's lifted a little, the back of my car's about 5 or 6 cm's too high. This is something I'm not prepared to do myself, I don't have the facility or tools for this. Anyone in Cape Town that can do this, or know's someone, please let me know guys.

All the plans sound good. Did the guy come back to you with a price on the fasteners?

Just check what your camber is like at the moment on the back, the last thing that you want it issues with sideshaft bearings and negative camber. You can only get the back of the speedster down so far with a straight axle, before you start running into issues. This is the main reason that I'm going IRS on the back to get it a good 15cm further down. I have tonnes of clearance, but I'm already sitting with a smidgen of negative camber and I don't want more.

Speak to Bugger about his adjustable rear suspension kit. Then you can dial in the suspension precisely. Using the spline is very coarse and most times it either just too much or just too little.

I did chat with Bugger (Pierre, corrected), but I don't wanna spend 4 grand on two swingarms man.. I think thats what he quoted.. I also don't need all the adjustability really, it's not a racing car, I just want it slightly lower.

Alan the rear spring plates can be moved/adjusted to get the car lower , its not rocket sience im sure there is a post somewhere on the forum on the "how to" or you can give me a call and I can explain .
