Same oddity here. Parked the '62 in the warehouse last week after a full interior valet. Was going like a dream.62vwbeetle wrote:Managed to start the bug today. Hmmmmmmm didn't have enough krag to drive up the road
Took the old boy out this morning to enjoy Mr. Sun who has been hibernating for a while and ewe skielik there's a misfire and a smell of over-fuelling. The little VeeDub goblins must have been at it again. Will have to tinker around a see what they've been up to. :/

Removed the body from chassis today. Welded 25x38 mm tubing to reinforce the outer frame through to where the front beam attachment on the chassis. Hopefully this will keep it rigid for much neede off road fun!

4 new plugs and distributor wires and the car runs great again. Sometimes it's just the simple stuff.Stütz wrote:Same oddity here. Sent the speedy off today for a new dual core radiator from a 2001 Jeep Cherokee, over twice the space, but flatter at 25cm, that'll allow me to get it lower and also closer to the H-beam.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Well over the last two weekends and with the help of Bugslife and others
Opened up engine to check if it's a 1300 or 1600
Fitted pushrod, checked and set tappets, drained gearbox and engine oil and put in new oil - thanks for pushrod H.R!
Fitted new plugs.
Fitted polyurethane gearbox mounts
Fitted shocks on front of buggy
Fitted coilovers at the rear. Shocks that was in there were shot.
Greased the axles
Tightened the steering column
Fitted new brake cylinders and Bleed brakes.
Fitted new air filter and air filter pipe
Cleaned carburetor and fitted new pipes and gasket set.
Took of rusted trumpets and put on a 4 in 1
Added idle screw
Grinded off the bulbar that was fitted leaving some recovery points.

Re: What did you do on your car today?
Pulled out the engine the past weekend, took of heads for a proper valve job and cleanup. Will install 1.25 ratio rockers while the engine's out and I can set it up properly. Hoping for a little improvement with these things done.
