Anyhow. While in bed and bored I thought I should blow some cash that I don't have. Haha. Bought a set op badges for the rear trunk. As well as converters to fit my other wheels

On another note, I've started with a led mod for the tail lights and front Indicator lights.
Thought the stock lighting was a bit sub par. this... this will be blinding

but will be controlled via a potentiometer so can adjust if its to bright. Basically gonna run about 120+ leds per lens. So 40 odd per indicator and 80 odd per running/brakelight.

I like the LED idea. Thinking of going that route myself.

Yeah it is epically bright. Building a pwm now to control the brightness for the brake/running lights.

Erm... well I was saving this kitten from a tree... and....
Haha no actually fell of a ladder while at work. Fell onto the ladder with my ankle underneath it. Tore some ligaments and broke a bone. But seems pretty much healed at least.

Sooo....
I fitted a matching flywheel after I removed this one ^^
And when we tried to refit the motor over the weekend it didn't want to fit
Now i did a bit of searching and it seems like I have a 12v flywheel but running a 6v tranny. Is this possible?
The car was running before all this but the starter used to slip and had a bit of a grinding noise. thus the removal of it all.
If you look at this pic
You'll see metal shaving and scratched gearbox. I think the PO installed this flywheel when upgrading the starter or something and didn't realise you need to shave the box. Now I'm sitting with a problem. I need to make the 12V flywheel fit.
Thoughts on shaving metal from the gearbox? is this safe? Would I run into any other issues?

No Problem, When you have fitted the new flywheel, and clutch, slide it into place and while you tighten the bolts just have someone turn the engine over, it will clear the needed space and it will fit.

I'm gonna try it this weekend. Otherwise going the grinding route. Really want to get this guy running... plus my leg is feeling better so should be able to move around better now and actually start working again
Hopefully I can sort the geni out soon aswell. then its just the brakes and a new battery
Getting there slowly...
Oh crap... still need 2 new tyres... :/

Please get rid of all the paint in the 5 x 205 standard beetle holes.
If you don't you wheel nuts will come loose while driving.
Been there done that.

Looking at that Flywheel it might be possible that you still got a 6V starter in the Tranny and the reason why the flywheel was abused like that as you can see the bigger teeth marks in the flywheel
Have a look at the starter take it out and check on the side if you can see any markings 6V or 12V
If 6V you will need to change the starter to 12V and I do have conversion bushes to fit in the tranny to accomodate the 12V starter as it have a much smaller shaft size as a 6V
If you need help or anything give mee a bell

even if it is on a sat or Sunday
Ok so reading though my topic again... I saw this post from bugger, i even replied to it but obviously didn't actually read it

It makes sence now, haha. sigh... I'm a bit daft sometimes
Something is not right with your tranny clutch setup???

looking at the pics .......

You have a early tranny (unsupported thrust bearing) and a later clutch plate without a collar, you need a early pressure plate to mate things up correctly, did you drive the car with the current setup

??? I think NOT.
I would obviously still need to get this pressure plate... anyone have one?
