I think it was a bit higher than most but it had the bigger tyres on the back

I installed the notched spring plate on one side, in the same position as the original plate

The shaft is stuck to the spring plate on the other side
So we pulled it out completely, we marked everything so hopefully it will be easy getting the marks to line up when we re-install everything
I will have to play around to get the right stance once the wheels are on


How do I get the bottom sump plug out of a gearbox? Its stuck

Managed to get both the new spring plates on and got the straight axle gearbox in.
Can someone please show me what the nuts/bolts look like that I need and where I will be able to get them

Those should be normal High Tensile bolts and spring washers available at Fastener Warehouse behind Ranch Meat Supply

Yes !! Great will get some tomorow, what are they torqued to ?

Gearbox drain plug are sometimes very stubborn to remove
A 17mm allen socket and a power bar does the trick
and Remember lefty loosy righty tighty as you are upside down

The side bolts just gets tighten nice tight

Finally sorted out my front,

Need some help please. My straight axle gearbox is in and everything connected to the gear lever
I swopped the nose cones and the hockey stick around but now I can just get one gear which I think is second, How do I know that when I installed the hockey stick that the gearbox was in neutral? Should all three of the "shafts" be in equal positions, which means the little one needs to move up. This is the way it looked when it went into bus.

Currently in those pics 3de gear is engaged
All the selector shafte must be level that the hocky stick can Move in "Neutral"

And remember that the bus specific nose cone and the hocky stick that looks as some one has bent it is very important to go together

The gearbox on the pictures is the one with the rgb's that came out the bus, I just used it for reference
I put the nose cone and hockey stick from the original gearbox with rgb's on the "new" straight axle gearbox,so I need to remove it again and get the box in neutral. What is the reason for changing over the hockey stick aswell?

The height where the hockey stick comes out of the bus nose cone is think lower or higher cant remember right now but you will notice that the end of the hockey stick looks as if it is bent. It has to look like that

If you got a bug nose cone and hockey stick laying around compare it with the bus one and you will note the difference

Thanks Pierre managed to get all my gears,

Having a hard time today trying to get the spring plate mounts to line up with the axle mounts so I can get my bolts in straight, if I jack up the spring plate to try and level it with the axle the whole bus goes up, I know about the chain around the jack and shock mount but I dont have a chain. I can get some bolts through the holes but the spring plate is not flush with the axle mounts,
Any advice please anyone?

I don't understand this. What is holding the axle in position. Surely it is movable at the hub end.

If you can get some bolts through it means that 2 is in then you use a pry bar to alighn the 3de hole and bolt it all togeter as in a beetle when installing the tranny the spring plates is also not flush or "Level" with the axle tubes but spanner will sort it out
