Not buying, just looking - a visit to Porsche Jhb

Post by Pine »

I had the opportunity to visit the new Porsche Centre in Johannesburg (well, West Rand actually) today. I was speechless about what I saw there, although the words of Mephis Raines in 'Gone in 60 Seconds' came to mind:
Yes, yes yes... I saw three of these parked outside the local Starbucks this morning, which tells me only one thing. There's too many self-Indulgent wieners in this city with too much bloody money!
I was greeted right at the main entrance by this GT3 Cup, with a price tag of R 2.5 million...

and another one

So I looked left

Image

and I looked right

Image

and I looked left again

In the corner you can build your own Porsche, with different finish, interior, wheels and accessories options - hmmmm, so what will it be?

The treat of the day was this Carrera GT in black - probably the only one ever to be in South Africa, since they are only available in LHD. I think this one is on loan from Stuttgart

Brand spanking NEW!!

Sexy assssss....

The theme of 'Baywatch' came to mind when I saw the Porsche Assist Cayenne
Some people stand in darkness. Afraid to step into the light.
Some people need to help somebody when the edge of surrender is in sight.
Don't you worry, it's going to be all right.

The service center:

Mid-engined Boxster without Box (Bugger??? )

...and even Stuttgart's finest got the odd Brannewynvlek or two

And then there are the corpses, covered for sensitive viewers

*moment of silence*

Inside the body shop - seems like the appies are enjoying their work (or was it just the camera?)

As I was about to leave, this temptation caught my eye...

So, anyone got an idea what the Lotto numbers for Saturday are???

Is this the new centre in Paulshof ?
Looks awesome, I was not aware they are doing their own panelbeating and spraypainting as well! WOW.
Talk about a full service. That is not the only GT in the country btw.

You can see the other one at the Franschoek motor museum. Beautiful in Silver.

Thanks for the correction Karma! Yes, it is indeed the Porsche Center in Paulshof - off Witkoppen Rd I think?

This is the Porsche dealer in Omaha, no fences and cars stand outside all night with no guard. Trustworthy people??

NOT A CHANCE IN GAUTENG! To give you an idea of the height of this electrified fence - I stood on the back seat of the Bus with my upper body through the sunroof to take this pic. I guess it is at least 10 - 12 feet high. You'll probably find some claymores hidden inside the inner pyramiter as well..

Just imagine the value on that piece of land.
You wil have to keep a lot of cows on it to match the value
Watercooled we have a brand new president and he promised to wipe out crime (---- and promote soccer---)so maybe one day soon we can leave our Porsches outside in the open

Great pics Pine, thanks for posting! 8)

Sigh ... :( The standard of SA driving ... there's as many of them in the bodyshop as in the showrom.

Getting a Porsche in South Africa these days is easier than ever. Back in '81 you had to work through Lindsay Saker and get your car/parts only by 'special delivery ex Germany'
